Bringing Her Back to Life

I was bored waiting for parts - gaskets, idler gear, etc., so I decided to make one of these - a clear water pump cover.

I like the idea of being able to see my impeller turn, but not 100% sure how it will function. Gonna run distilled water for the warm weather. That should slow it from hazing up - hopefully.

That is cool.....

Thanks.

I'm not sure about it yet. I've been communicating with a few guys that have done this and they had trouble getting the pump cover to seal. I can always go back to the metal plate if needed.

My next few days off (after working the weekend) will involve pulling the engine. My parts are in, just have pick them up. Gotta get this ticking issue resolved. If the parts that I'm replacing are not the issue, then I've got some big problems.

It's been a while and I've been into a whole pile of crap with this bike. I've found a lean condition on the left piston. I did another leakdown test and found a seal leak on the stator/rotor side crank seal

Lean condition - notice the difference

The worn crank. Get a little crud caught under the (double lip) seal and look what it does.

I'm going to try to repair the shaft using 2 of these. They don't make one long enough to cover both grooves from the double lip seal.

Hi there, I am a experienced rider and was wondering if you would like to meet for a ride in milton up at the Ice house in Campbellville near 401

Maybe at some point. Right now, you can see that I have my crankshaft out of my bike.

Has now become this:

And I can safely say no leaks on the crank (stator/rotor side)

I'm back to a better place now.

Have to figure where I'll start for jetting. I'm thinking 280's and work down

Looking good brother, now it's just a matter of time before you ride this season!

Another step closer

Put engine oil in her last night.

Have to see if my rad is finished getting repaired. I'd rather put the new one on than fill the old one, just to change it later.

Tension the chain to be done.

I have some electrical to sort out. My tach and thermo sensor readings bounce all over and sometimes drop out all together - need to get that sorted. I can only do it while running.

My rad is not finished. Guess I'll be going with the original unit for now.

That thing is so cool
