"Alternative Media" - Who's watching it?

I posted about a couple of web series, in the movies thread, but thought this deserves its own thread. I's anyone, other than me, following some sort of alternative media programming? Web series? Youtube? Vimeo? Here are a few that I'm watching (and supporting some of them):

Standard Action: A Vancouver based geek comedy series, based on Dungeons and Dragons.

JourneyQuest: Made by a group based in Seattle, WA. Also fantasy based.

Improbabilia: A made in Toronto Sci-Fi/superhero series that is just starting out.

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpZJKffGcZKzXRYZo_JBcucdbHDFIb7Mc

Voyage Trekkers: Basically a Star Trek spoof, made by folks in Phoenix, AZ.

Star Trek Renegades: Many actors who appeared in the various Star Trek properties, trying to keep things going.

Divergence: A parallel worlds Sci Fi series.

Some of this stuff is schlock. Some is funny as hell. Production values vary from soap opera crap, through broadcast TV quality.

So anyone else or am I the only one who's embracing new media, and moving away from broadcast TV reality show garbage?

Me, definitely. There's an X-Men series on Youtube and there used to be a really good Avengers spoof as well, but nothing in a year or so.

I'm also following The Young Turks, Russia Today on Youtube. Some good vid articles, some not so good.

Intelligence Channel: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUFbtKvB4ZhEzrSink8Hvg

James Burke: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHzwwF44sysgSyNaLSe5z5w

Hybrid Librarian: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWYFq1JnfCFOUbk4Q7MCbWg

Michael Kory fitness: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHMHowKsEJI9N2ulejB71jg

Corridor Digital: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsn6cjffsvyOZCZxvGoJxGg

Pro Guitar Shop (demos, etc.): http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXT6G8O3its4RLZ4kzjMr_w

Throwback Studios (X-Men mentioned above... Rogue is a hottie): http://www.youtube.com/user/ThrowbackStudioz

Have fun...

Anything specific that you're following?
Don't follow any episodic series, but these are a few of my favourite channels

/DRIVE
Baron Von Grumble
Accidental Broadcast
MotoGeo
MisterBigWheel

I consider anyone who can make anything over 10mins and keep me interested to be pretty decent. All the big channels like redbull or MotoGP are annoying because you only get 1-3min clips of crap.

Pioneer One was a good political show with a Sci Fi backdrop, definitely worth watching.

Liked to watch Vice before they went Hollywood and also became annoying with the hipster crap

Military Arms Channel has some good reviews of both black and red rifles, plus you get a good laugh at the "tactical" beard

I've given up on cable. Can't wait to ditch it and go OTA. Can't convince the wife, though.

Star Trek nerds might dig Star Trek Continues, a continuation of the original series, same characters, different actors of course. Only two episodes so far, but quite enjoyable and true to the original. The guy who plays Kirk even has the Shatner body language down. Grant Imahara from Mythbusters plays Sulu.

Also on Youtube. Episode 01, "Pilgrim of Eternity": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3G-ziTBAkbQ

Episode 02, "Lolani", with a surprise guest star: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mOpmIFTxkE

Same reptilian controlled brain washing crap.

Their stuff is quite good. I guess you didn't notice the name of the guy who plays Scotty?

There's also "Star Trek - Phase II", that continues the original adventures.

I did. Pretty cool...
ChrisDoohan as Mr. Scott
Chris is no stranger to Star Trek. Having spent time on the original series sets with his dad. He began his acting adventure on the Enterprise in 1979 appearing in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. That was the first of several appearances on the beloved ship. His most recent trek put him in the transporter room of the critically acclaimed Star Trek (2009), sharing the screen with the new Scotty, Simon Pegg. Chris has also done several character voice-overs for the Starship Farragut animated episodes, including that of the iconic engineer himself.
...I thought he even looked similar...guess that's why. lol

It's uncanny how it mirrors the original. I'm not sure how to take it though....seriously or as a parody....almost feels like they are making fun of it, but it's done seriously. I think the problem is that it matches the 60s ideas too well, so watching it as an adult in 2014 and exposed to all the technical and character development of all those years makes me view it a bit jaded.

Yep, I know who he is, but didn't want to bore the membership. :D

Thanks for your Phase II link. I'll check it tonight.

Nope, they're completely serious with the '60s vide. They're trying to give the show the last two years of their "Five year mission." I think that they're doing pretty well, too, as I saw the original when it was brand new.

Also, if you would like to see a crew entirely made up of Scottys, including a Romulan Scotty, then you might want to check out "Star Ship Intrepid":

I'm of two minds about this one. On one hand I think that when big names beg for money using crowdfunding, they break the system that is meant for small independents. On the other I love everything these guys do, so I really want to see it.

Adam Tudyk and Nathan Fillion, pimping for their new web series "Con Man":

They made their funding goal almost immediately after posting the campaign, breaking all previous records.
