Very helpful and professional and open early. Be on my way just one day late. I can certainly recommend them - fitting me in during a busy lead up to the US holiday.

AAA is towing me for 10 am tomorrow and I get a free tow instead of counting as one of the four. My CAA people intervened due to the mess.

So an extra overnight ( it's pouring today so would not be a pleasant ride home )
A tire I needed anyway and likely cheaper in the US.

Kid had a great time yesterday being hooligan on the twisties - he's hooked on the area.

•••••
These are some take aways for me and others and much of it applies to the more rural parts of Ontario and really anywhere rural North America

This is an area you really should have a buddy to ride with
simply because of the just about zero phone coverage.
I was very lucky stranded up high and even then it was spotty to non-existent. Kid went back to motel after snagging lunch for me and organized the tow finding me. The driver said that without his help they would have had problems finding me. It's a real tangle of roads and names and highways that wind around and merge and separate. Now this looks straight forward - South from Renovo to 144 go right and I'm between there and Wykoff Run Road.... ( I was right around the white dot )
Trouble is - dispatch sent the driver north and there is an old Wykoff Road that is dirt.
Had I sent GPS coordinates it would have been much easier.

Figure any rescue will take a couple of hours and take that with a grain of salt. Mine was 9 just to get to me. Roads are tangled and hard for the mcycle tow trucks to navigate at any speed. There were times it took a half hour just to get to a live person at AAA - always ask for a direct dispatch number if you can

Use your GPS to give rescue directions - it's better than road directions. Take an offline map that can work just with the GPS - do NOT count on have cell service.
People are friendly and helpful so ask.
Even if you have road maps with you - they won't help unless you know where you are - signage can be very confusing - the tow truck guy knows and rides the area and still could not find me.

Fuel stations close early and are scarce especially on Sunday when of course we all like to ride. Good idea to check ahead and mark which ones are open. You use a lot of fuel in the twisties - my son was shocked how quickly he went through it.
If you get down to a 1/2 tank and see a fillup - top off.
My tow took longer because chasing around the driver had to refuel and the only thing open was near the Interstate - a wasted two hours for that.

Take liquid - 13 hours - I had about 2 litres and used most of it. Some snacks a good idea - you might be out for a good while and this is very rural as many of the best riding areas are.

Preserve your phone battery - a 12 volt outlet that works without the key on is a good thing. Something the Burgman does not have. I should have run the bike to charge the phone. Forgot the lights would be on = dead battery soon enough.
Pulled the fuses for the lights so still had some juice for the phone - enough to get through the wait.

Now for the better stuff

The directions were given over the phone to dispatch - tried to get them to email me but nada and the one call back that might of saved time I missed as no signal - I had to keep wandering a bit as the signal wavered.
It was a lovely day - bugs but nothing biting and did a bit of macro photos with the long lens

This is the first time I've done spring in this area - other rides were fall and the long daylight was welcome especially yesterday. Fireflies galore after dark and dozens of deer on the tow home.

Near or far there is always something to shoot with that lens.

If it had gone smoothly no issue but middle of nowhere, dead bike and failing battery was not fun when they could not find me

this of course is redneck country big time

did I hear banjos in the distance?? ( this was 8 pm and getting a tad worried since the call for the tow occurred at 11 am. )
Of course the driver then goes on about the bear over population....

Kenz looking Darth Vader

I like the move to external fitting armour rather than armored jackets.
I wear knee armor as well tho not that sophisticated and thinking of fitted armour like he has so jacket can be optional tho my mesh is very cool even in high temps and with a liner can go down to 45 or so and be comfy - even lower if I add a rain layer on the outside.
He started out on dirt and so this type of outfit comes naturally. He said he was hitting close to 200 kph yesterday on a couple of his hooligan runs. Big grin on his face…..no traffic - almost non existent cops and fabulous roads.
We got our com system working yesterday so could chat….were having ton of fun on the road I got the flat. ( 144 SOUTH of Renovo or towards Wykoff Run which we never got to ;( ) which is a real shame as he would have loved it.

Kenz had just gone on ahead as he rides far faster than I do these days when I felt the rear end get squirmy
Pulled off - looked okay but checked the tire pressure sensor ….9 lb….oops - then looked and could see the carcass had split.
We had done some rough pavement the day before and could hear it chewing the tread.

Lovely area to ride tho - not bad for a snap on the fly - my little prime lens - this camera is not as easy to handle while riding as my old one - but throttle lock works okay for them. This HWY 120 runs all along the river for a long ways near Renovo - great pavement - just a few falling rocks to dodge in some areas after a rain.

we sure caught the weather right - this was sandwiched between two very rainy days - today being one of them.

There were many trout fishermen along the rivers.

Many of the nicest roads parallel the mountain streams for a long way.

Today tho :angry7: -- quite glad to hole up for a rest....would not be fun riding home.

despite the turtle riding pillion.

One day to go.

Yes we have tire kit. No does not fix shredded carcass

Tip. Tell caa the gps coordinates
Despite careful directions
They could not find me
They tried to call
Horrid signal
Start over
Oh well
Kid had fun day
First half good for dad
Glad ive got rain gear. Looking like tstorm.

Bad luck I guess

Mostly - I could have swapped the tire before I went as I knew it was getting down there.

The idiocy at AAA was really unacceptable - the driver was ****** as well as he ended up driving like 140 miles through these twisties chasing information they gave that was wrong

But tow truck in 10 min - guy sounds competent

Dealer in a couple of hours and then hopefully leaving around 1 pm for home.

Kid has left already - Burgman carries his backpack so that made hom

•••
Yeah - but all good now
tow on time - good guy to chat with
impressive dealer
tire came in before I got there.

On my way in an hour or so. Turned out the front is iffy as well - should have done both - didn' consider it - will do when I get back.

ForeverMap worked well.....TomTom still a bit frustrating but we'll see when I try a set of unknown roads and ask it to do maximum windy's point to point.
I was down Renovo up to hyner run on Sunday, I have ForeverMap but end up using Copilot GPS, it is also an off line app but it has turn by turn navigation, used my Ipod with a gps unit attached to it and it worked great, even when my buddy lost gps signal up in the mountain, i never lost it

Oh that's cool- will check it out - the state of the art moves forward. TomTom worked okay and got me a very nice winding road ride back to the outskirts of Buffalo - then I just punched in fastest and it took me right to the bridge in 20 minutes - worth it for that winding roads feature alone.

I'm back now - lovely day ....all went super smooth - the tire was there before I was - on the road by noon and took the lazy ways home. Great dealership - huge in this tiny little town ....clearly they have a strong rural base.

Turns out I need a front tire as well - .....who had the best deal on tires in the GTA??

thanks.

I thought I had issues - client just came in.

Stepped off the dock by accident and dunked himself and his iPhone 5 - fried it.

Bit rattled he knocked a drink on his MacBook Air where his iPhone 5 data was backed up ..( we'll get it back but the Air might be fried ).

Back out on the boat...no GPS which he was using the iPhone for ....hit a submerged rock and took out his lower end....

A very expensive long weekend for him. We ARE dependent on the toys eh.

My adventure pales in comparison.
