and see if I can catch the meteor shower.

Had a great time last fall and a good show...

Chance of Showers: Perseids Sky Show Peaks Soon

perseids_1.jpg

Millions of us will shift our focus from Mars to the stars in a few days as the Perseid meteor showers build toward a grand finale Saturday night, August 12-13, 2012.

The crescent moon will not interfere the last few hours before dawn Sunday morning, when there could be up to 100 “shooting stars” per hour.

Try to orient yourself toward the Northeast, where meteoroids will appear to “rain” down from the inverted “Y” of the constellation Perseus as it rises around midnight.

looks to be clear http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/radar/index_e.html?id=WKR
and it's a nice ride up there .... 24 hour Timmies at thge corner of 6 and 9.

With the rain over tonight might be the best even tho Sunday night would be peak.

Anyone interested email me. I might head up tonight as I have not been out for a couple of days.

pm sent, i seen some lightning in that direction 10min ago

They are back and conditions look perfect tonight - cold and clear with no moon.

Sea of bright, fast meteors to burst through sky Wednesday
Perseid meteor shower expected to reach its peak overnight Wednesday, as up to 100 fireballs will streak overhead every hour.

I'm heading up to York Soaring near Arthur as viewing conditions are very good. Gonna be down to 10 tonight so bundle up.

Gonna take the van and the zero gravity chair and my Audible book :D

depends on nap....I'll likely head up around mid night and see how well I stay awake....have to dig out the long johns.

Can always warm up in the clubhouse or the car. Weather is looking just perfect - dry and clear.

Furthermore, the shower’s exact peak is predicted to run for several hours centered on 4 a.m. August 13th Eastern Daylight Time (1 a.m. PDT; 8h Universal Time). This coincides perfectly with the best meteor-watching hours — from late evening to the first light of dawn — in the time zones of North America.

It's a really good shower - decided toi backyard it instead as I have a busy day tomorrow and rewarded with two really good fireballs in the first few minutes right across viewing area

This is just going to get better people.

I'm in Mississauga and still getting big fat fireballs...I'd say 20 an hour at this point but the size and slow speeds make them impressive and it's supposed to increase from here out.

Get out there for a hour.
