Kitchener/Waterloo area, c u next trackday riders thread!

Good news Katatonic! If that r6 doesn't work out, we can fit you with one of these exotic European models. Dealer's choice, but I would pay $20 to see him in the one on the right. There's even room for Tim.

Nice rides, Randy...
If Bippy and I are in one, it better have Brembo brakes or we're screwed...

Hahaha!! I've actually driven something like the one on the right when I was in Key West. It was a great way to get around! It was electric though so it wasn't very fast....

Finally got around to priming my fairings. I managed to find it in black which should make the final black look a bit better.
And so glad I wore a proper mask!

Now that he has a new bike and some nice fairings, next stop on katatonics shopping list...

Got a good deal on some A* GP sliders. Anyone want a pair? $30
Like, knee puck sliders or frame sliders?
I'm looking for a replacement frame slider but I'm having a hell of a time finding them. Anyone know where to find one of these along with the centre bolt to hold it in place?

I don't use frame sliders anymore. Not since bending a bolt to the point that I almost couldn't get it out. There is a lot of debate about whether they actually help prevent damage or cause more by causing the bike to flip. There is also a risk of damaging the frame or engine mount where they bolt on.

They are A* GP knee sliders.
I also don't use frame sliders. From what I hear, they're great for parking lot tip overs but an awful idea on track. They can either bend the frame or even worse get caught and make the bike flip. I just use engine covers on mine.

Well, I learned something today....lol
If that's the case with frame sliders then I might as well take them off and whatever happens happens.
Thanks for the input gents.

The way I see it, the frame sliders just protect the fairings from being rashed up in a slow speed slide out. However, on a race bike, the most ideal crash has the bike gracefully sliding along grinding away at the bodywork. Better to patch up fiberglass than to replace dented/cracked tank, bent or torn off subframes etc.

Check out this poor thing

Crash itself wasn't too awful but the slider dug in the grass and flipped it on the tail; tore the subframe clean off.

I'll be headed to the shop this afternoon to do a little more fiberglass and painting, probably get there around 3:30. If anyone's up for beer and bike talk feel free to come by.

Nice!
I managed to not totally screw up my fairings. Just gotta let them dry for 48 hours or so before the clear coat goes on. Then GoPro mounts and my 'sponsor' stickers!

Nice, good work!

A note about GoPro mounts. The camera lens is not centred, so keep that in mind. If you're putting one on the tail facing forward to check your body position make sure you centre the lens and put it as far back as possible.

I didn't think about the lens being off centered.... thanks for the tip! And the camera on the tail will be mainly used for watching BigEvilDoer as I pass him....lol!

Yeah.. well I'll still be in the pits with the tire warmers on at that point.....;-)

All you need now is some white pin striping to really make the paint pop!
