disclaimer : I don't own either.

However, respected website Cnet.com makes some compelling points in their video.

I can't help that in my eyes, Apple/Jobs likes "controlling" their customers like puppets and telling them what they want and should need.

Buck conformity, embrace free mindedness......... Long Live Android.

Looking for a smart phone for XMas. I was considering an unlocked iPhone but this casts doubts for me now. And I still need info on the new Win 7 phones. Decisions, decisions.

Love my sony ericsson xperia. Its an android. Was going for the iphone and the guy from Rogers sold me on this one and I am glad he did.

Of course they do. You just learned this only now??? Apple has always been selling top notch design and devices with very good software packages, but there was always something they wanted back (or you as a customer had to live with ...). It's up to you to figure out what floats your boat. You should not need to believe cnet or any other "independent" reviewer to cast your vote.

Apple must be doing something right, looking at their ever growing market value or are you gonna call the investors sheeple as well ... LOL ????

They're doing a lot of things right. However, Androids growth appears to be exponential in a shorter period of time. I don't blame the investors one bit, I'd put all my money on the hottest stocks I could get my hands on at the moment. Seen the price of Gold on the market lately? Wish I bought some years ago. I'd be one heckuva rich guy right now.

This video isn't such a bad primer for the masses.
Crapple Iphone users have always touted the following 3 arguments for their device:
1) Ooooooh 100,000 "apps" [Other than destroying that word for the rest of us, they fail to mention that whatever most users would wanna use on their iphone has already been ported to Android or there are better alternatives.. Most consumers will run about 10 apps from a group of about 100. The rest is just fluff]
2) Poppa-Steve made our interface easy and safe [By locking everything down and treating both developers and end-users like little children]
3) Ooooooh, look at how trendy and flashy it is.. All the cool kids on the block are rockin' it!!! [Well, it might appeal to someone rockin' a BMW logo ]

1) Then whats the point of having an "open source" Android Phone if people will only use 10 apps?
2) OMG! What was Steve thinking! Making a computing device easy, safe and fun to use!! The HORROR!!
3) Yeah its much better some douchy counter culture psuedo-tech revolutionary and adopt anything that has the "Open" label slapped on it.

1) There will always be the odd man out, such as a package (*) adding a function that would only appeal to an advanced user (maybe something giving IAX2 connectivity) or just a package that an even more advanced user would like to tweak a bit.
2) Living is very easy when someone tells you when you should get up, what you should do, what you should eat, when you should go to bed. Doesn't mean that it's to everyone's taste. Steve made Apple so easy, safe and fun that crapple developers aren't even allowed to do flash or even wipe their on behinds without poppa's permission.
3) Yeah, the open source users are the *******

I was checking that phone out on Rogers website, not bad but I think it's slightly dated now. Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant on Bell site looks kinda cool, as much as I detest Bell.

1) BWAAHAHHAHA!! Your joking with that right??? Seriously did you just type that out as some sort of inditement of open source? And you have the nerve to call the Apple app store fluff? Everybody loves to tout "open source" this and that, when the fact of the matter is that less than 5% of the buying public will ever really use any of it. Its such a non issue, its just a buzz word.

2) We are talking about a phone. Not real life. You analogy is so far off base its actually embarrassing.

3) LOL...just read what you wrote in (1)...your seriously trying to tell me open source users arent the **********? LOL "IAX2 Connectivity"...

It ain't a buzzword, and you are thinking about it in the wrong way. It's not about what the buying public will do with it, it's about what the developers can do with the phone. It translates to (usually) better and more innovative apps because developers are not constrained to a specific set of tools/jail that apple os have laid out.

Frankly, i don't know why so many people compare these phones. Phone OS, Desktop OS, Enterprise OS, they all serve different needs and wants. You wanna game? Go with an iphone or windows desktop. You want usability? Go with apple? You wanna be a fatass anarchist looking to make bombs and **** some **** up in the pentagon, go with ubuntu.

This is worse than comparing GIXXERS to KAWIS to HONDAS to YAMIS because at least they're somewhat similar and metrics for the features, performance, and components are much more measurable.

The Bell version of the Galaxy S looks cheap compared to the Rogers one. I had a buddy just get the Rogers version of the Galaxy and the case looked and felt much higher quality.

so if everyone starts buying Android phones, what are you going to get?

I got my eyes on this baby :

Here are what my friends with iPhones brag about.

1) My iPhone has a great app that calculate what I should tip....mmm I just calculated what the tip is before u can launch your app.
2) Wow, the resolution on you HTC Magic looks like crap compare to my iPhone 4.....really...no kidding, u are a freakin genius.
3) hey porn looks great on my iPhone....

Apple makes really pretty and very functional products.
My next phone will be the HTC Desire HD.

1) Actually, chances are anybody who's ever browsed the web has used Open Source. Ever heard of LAMP? Basically, 90% of websites run on the LAMP stack. The 2nd most popular browser on the market (Firefox) is Open Source. Yeah, nobody uses open source
2) We're talking about a mobile computer that can be used to help a person manage and enhance their life. Considering how much computers are penetrating our day to day living, restricting our freedoms with the devices that we paid hundreds for can be very inconvenient.
3) What's so douchy about wanting to access your PBX via a more secure protocol, or having any other functionality that would appeal to a geek or an enterprise user? The beauty of the Android marketS lies in the fact that there are packages for both the regular Joe and the real geek. Better than 99% of your platform's packages being useless stuff just delivering advertisement for various businesses. Download the Geico "app" and the Fat Bastard Burrito "app," while you're at it.

You wanna be a fatass anarchist looking to make bombs and **** some **** up in the pentagon, go with ubuntu.

No self-respecting fatass anarchist would go anywhere near Ubuntu, whose unofficial motto is "like Windows, but it works." It's easy to install, easy to use, has a lot of eye candy and lots of packages preinstalled, but that also means lots of bloat. Not a bad thing, and I use it for my desktop system (everything works out of the box, it's stupid-easy to install packages, has great built-in hardware support, real no-brainer), but I wouldn't run a server or be involved in any clandestine activities on that platform.
A lazy fatass anarchist would probably go with Arch, while a real fanatic would probably just do LFS (Linux From Scratch). I might go through the pain of doing LFS just to learn about the internals, which you typically wouldn't using Ubuntu, which serves everything up on a silver platter.

iPhone spec wise is the best phone out there right now, they finally put a great camera on it and the HD video recording feature is badass. I shopped around a lot before I got the iPhone 4, I really wanted something comparable that isn't apple as I am not the biggest fan of the company but they make a great product..

I was looking at the galaxy S and found the android software combersome compared to iOS, then again I don't care about open source compatibility I don't even care to jailbreak my iPhone.

My friends always say how their BBs are so much better than iPhone.. BBM, msn.. etc but everytime someone wants to look something up on the net or use the GPS they reach for my iPhone! It all depends what you want out of your smartphone android.. iOS, BB they all do something better than the others.
