I was invited to join for a breakfast ride yesterday at famous Sams. I was a bit hesitant cause of the highway route 401/404. Never been to a 400 series highway before. If i have to go somewhere i always look for a back road route.
Since this is only my 3rd year riding I'm very aware of my of my limits. But I'm very surprise how well my 1100 virago handled the speed. It was rock solid.
We got there and saw some of the most interesting vintage bikes. Oh by the way some of the most greasiest breakfast you can ever have.

be safe

so i've been here as a passenger but not riding my own bike and i'd like to try it...however, i remember it being twisty with a steep incline in a few places (if memory serves me correct which it probably doesn't because that ride was a few years ago)...i ride a 500 cruiser and have no problems riding roads like SR15, RR97, SR20, Geulph Line, Cedar Springs, SR10, i just slow down to the posted limit on the bends...any advice for someone wanting to try the forks for the first time...which is the best way to go, travel eastbound towards hwy 10 or westbound away from hwy 10?

There are many, many, many reasons why I loathe Ontario (crappy people, crappy police, lack of interesting things to see and do, overpriced everything) and ultimately as a rider: crappy roads. By no means do I list everywhere awesome; here is but a small comparison of the "best" Ontario has to offer versus some of the most amazing roads I've ridden elsewhere:

(All taken at the same 700 meter resolution, for consistency's sake)

Snake Road, Ontario

Forks of the Credit River, Ontario

Terra Nova, Ontario

Ontario Highway 507, Ontario (where else?)

Now compare these to some of the places in America. Note the turns per unit distance ratio. Again, we have the same 700m resolution:

Colorado Highway 40, Colorado I have not been on the CO-40, but I've done other roads just as sexy. Colorado has too many to list here.

Arizona Highway 89. Arizona (Total length will not fit into a 700 meter resolution map)

California Highway 2, California - Angeles Crest Highway (66 miles, total length will not fit into a 700 meter resolution map)

Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina/Virginia 1/2 - This is the lower part of this 1000 km road (if you include Skyline Drive), it gets better than this

Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina/Virginia 2/2 - The upper part of the BRP, where it's super sexy

California Highway 36, California 3/3 (one of the sexiest roads on the continent, 225 km of virtually non-stop twisties that don't fit in one 700m shot)

California Highway 36, California 2/3 (one of the sexiest roads on the continent, 225 km of virtually non-stop twisties that don't fit in one 700m shot)

California Highway 36, California 1/3 (one of the sexiest roads on the continent, 225 km of virtually non-stop twisties that don't fit in one 700m shot)

Tail of the Dragon, Tennessee/North Carolina The US-129, famous Deal's Gap. Only 17 km, but 318 curves. Need I say more?

Anyone else feel like crying when they see what Ontario has to offer?

Hey All,

For the past four years I've been working on Ontario Tourism's motorcycle blog, and one thing we've worked hard on is creating routes for riders who are going out for more than a day trip. Last year I put on 15,000kms over 60 days, and 8000km the previous year over 40 days.

Of all the routed we'd ridden, this one struck me as the best balance of scenic and technical riding. I'm wondering who else has ridden it and if they agree.

http://northernontario.travel/motorc...nd-algoma-tour

Let me know!
