Sounds silly, but there are shops that have no idea about the intricacies of this bike.
For example, last summer I took my bike for service to a smaller shop in Etobicoke when she was running rough, but the guys working there almost sounded like they were afraid if it. "If something is wrong with the Vtec or the timing, we can't help with that" they said, like my bike was some sort of machine that only Honda shops can work on. They actually did figure out that my O2 eliminator had rusted and did some other work, but I'm hesitant to take it back there in case there is a timing or valve problem (which is unfortunately common with my model).

Add onto that, the fact that I've had only bad experiences with service at actual Honda PowerStore locations, so I'm hoping there is someone in the GTA that specializes on Hondas - specifically VFRs.

Any suggestions? She is running rough again at cruising speeds & I'm seeing the mileage slowly get worse.

Thanks for any suggestions

I have to turn the key back to OFF and then take it out. I've tried turning the wheel or leaving it straight before doing it but still no luck. Am I missing something? I mentioned it to my dealership and they said its a common problem with the 300. Does anyone else with the 300 experiencing this?

Hi,

I have a 2007 Suzuki gsxr 600. When I start the bike up, it starts up fine but starts sounding a bit different then usual after about 30 seconds and then slowly revs down and dies off. I can start it up again but it'll do the same thing only sooner then later.

If I rev it for a bit, then the bike sounds fine and stays on without a problem. This happens every 1-2 days of not riding. Becuz of this I changed my spark plugs to NGK iridiums, cleaned my k&n air filter, threw in sum fuel injector along with a full fresh tank of 94 octane gas, and cleaned the throttle body with seafoam.

Not sure what else I can do but definitely revving the bike after initially starting it is not the solution.

Suggestions? Help?

Thanks in advance.

Bike: K7 GSXR600
Additional electrical components: 2 LED strips (brake light), Scorpio alarm i900

So this has happened to me only a handful of times in the last 3 seasons I've had this bike. Luckily it was always when I was at home.

First time: Not much riding time, rode it back home and then shut it off. Not much later, tried to start it and the display was all messed up and wouldn't crank - recharged battery and it was fine.

Second time: After winterization (batt was on tender) I put it in the bike for a good month or so while I was doing stuff like chain/sprockets, tires. While testing the LED strips the battery died. Recharged fine before I actually starting riding this season. LED strip is fed off the brake light and grounded into the bike frame in the trunk.

Third time: Last night, was out for a night ride. Had turned my bike on/off several times (stopping for drinks, taking pictures for photo tag, etc.). Rode maybe 40 km and went home. While pulling into my driveway, I noticed the gear shifter was stuck on 2. Odd. So I turned the bike off, and tried to turn it back on. Alarm went off, bike wouldn't crank, headlights looked dim. Took the battery out to charge (charger said it was not full). Now, since the second time, I've been riding the bike at least every other day.

So, begs the question: Is this a stator problem? It seems to happen randomly though and not consistently. How can I confirm this? Or is this some battery problem, maybe the level is low or something? I can borrow a better multimeter but the voltage seemed normal (was an analog with a huge range) when I tested it 2 weeks ago, and the rectifier is definitely fine as I checked this recently.

My bike randomly stopped running, I had to park it and come home. Planning to go tomorrow to get my battery to charge it. Me and a fellow biker at the gas station tried to bump start it, we couldn't do it. The fuses are fine, I'm thinking it might be the battery.

So I was on the lakeshore ave, heavy traffic cause my bike to over heat. Shorty after I went to the P parking to hangout at the lake, when I tried to start the bike it basically died. So I had to push it half way home.

What could be a cause of this problem? Is it possible for the battery to die in 5mins? :|

Hi Everyone,

I'm having issues with my new to me, 1997 Blackbird.
I noticed that it was surging while I was riding on the highway, this seemed to happen regardless of speed, fuel level or RPM (from what I can remember). Also, a few times on start up, it was runnin on 3 cylinders. A few quick throttle blips smoothed this out and it was back on 4.

I figured it was time to change the plugs as I'm unaware of the prior maintenance of the bike.
I removed the plastics, tank, airbox and spark plug boost. Old plugs come out, new plugs go in. They're the correct plugs for the bike.
Ever since then the bike has idled rough, back fired and ran on 2 or 3 cylinders. A few times it has started up strong but ends up losing a cylidern

THe coils have low resistence, I checked them with a multi meter. The plugs are getting spark, I grounded them to the frame. THe carbs seem to be in working order, the diaphragm slides well.

Originally I had the coil wires in the wrong order, I now have it 2/3 on left, 1/4 on right.

It's still running rough, with weak idle.

I have to start it on full choke.

I'm in desperate need of help and I'm open to suggestions
