The first thing I thought was **** I'm glad the dude pulled through and I hope a year (or even two if needs be) he can be 100% mobile, fit, and back to normal! Thoughts go out to the rider. This has made me re-think ever riding in a country that doesn't have free healthcare. Top-notch or not, I would want to get the heck out of there and back over here too. Best wishes Tim.
I'm not sure if this helps in anyone in any way, but my mother had a major operation on her spine. She has degenerative disk disease and I believe a few other issues. Prior to the operation she couldn't stand/sit/walk for more than 10 minutes. Driving was a pain and her quality of life really went down. Within a few months after the operation she was nearly as mobile as ever. Tim (or friends of Tim), just keep positive! You can get better, you will get better =)
