Akuma Phantom II MFR Helmet Review

The beauty of the Phantom II is in its pure design functionality. It’s hands-down one of the lightest lids I’ve ever worn, weighing in at a svelte three pounds of total carbon fiber construction (covered in a UV resistant clear coat). Wow. It looks like a straight up copy of the rf-1000. Sure, the vent openings and stuff are slighly different, but the shape of the helmet and visor as well as placement of the vents are bang on.

I'd check it out, but I don't think I've ever seen an Akuma helmet in a store in Ontario.

I was just asking some of the guys last night about Akuma, I was wondering how they are.

I saw this one and really liked it (but then i'm a jet head too)

And Kiddo, I'm not sure about the quality of those jet helmets either. They seem a bit gimmicky to me. But hey- there are LEDs in the exhaust ports!

lol yeah that's what I want to find out, if it's decent quality I'd definitely think about getting one, they have a couple of nice decals... altho for some reason it says "available 2009" i thought we're in 2009?

what sort of resin is used with the carbon fibre?
that stuff is very dangerous when the fibres are broken loose.
ie, when smashed against the ground or a car.

It's not like Akuma is some manufacturing giant. I'd imagine they get their helmets made in the same factory that all of the other CF helmets get made in. So they're just as dangerous or not dangerous as all of the others out there.

    Cool helmet.

I really like the photochromic visor!!

Its such a pain carrying two visors (tinted/clear) when I know I'm going to riding until night. I wish other manufacturers would make the same thing!

Now there is a "killer app" for motorcycles...

we should start to manufacture them...we could make a killing!!!!

outsource the manufacturing to China to control costs.

    sales/distribution teams in Canada.

Rake in the profits and buy a ducati desmosedici!!

    fack i'm bored.

i was looking and am looking for the stealth one, in L but even MANUFACTURER is out of stock with all the sizes S-XL, but has XXL's....
No one sells them in Canada... well i think 1 place in Vancouver, and i heard one in Windsor.......
I talked to few people on the forum who have them: Fit: similar to SHARK, but more comfy.
any info on perhaps new reseller ??

I would never want a carbon lid (at least, not after reading through independent helmet tests), but MAN I want that visor!

BuffaloB, great idea, but we'd have to acquire the rights to make visors using their patented photochromic technology, and not to mention proprietary lens shapes from all the helmet manufacturers for each helmet they have...

Why's it taking them so long to make transitions visors? They've been in glasses lenses for a decade?!!!
