i think that this practice should be stopped.

why do we do this? running red lights?

what if that is how they died, red light runner...

do the mourning at the cemetery .

on the flip side, how about BIRTH PROCESSION to

bring home new babys, its there first rides.

I can't beleive there is an argument about this!
Seriously, give some people a bit of respect in your lives, you are NOT that important... I know you would like to think you are.
Pull over, let them pass (takes like a minute) and then continue on your way, that's all that is required and people appreciate it.
I have a few things to input that aren't even close to being politically correct so I better not say them...

it goes both ways - they are as important to me as much as I am to them. Which isn't a whole lot if they expect the world to pull over for them.

I have more important things to do than pull over for a deceased. I'm going to write it in my will:

"funeral procession wishes: drive unmarked unlabelled cars, everyone mapquest's their own directions, stop for red lights, drive in the right lane if you're going speed limit or slower."

I'm sure all the people in the funeral procession are just thinking about you and nothing else.

This isn't about who's more important, it's about letting people deal with a difficult situation without having to deal with other problems and it's about respect and also good manners basically.

Like I said before, unless someone's life is in peril, your day is going to be unaffected by letting a funeral procession take 5 minutes to pass you by.

and waiting 3 minutes at a red light or stop sign won't make their day any worse than it already is.

That was a real response. When people are mourning a lost loved one they don't need any added stress from people who can't think beyond their own tiny little lives, to give someone a little respite from the day-to-day stupidity on our roads.

    traffic law > stress

tell them to go by a helicopter if they don't want to stop for red lights and stop signs. or by tour bus if a 10-15 person caravan doesn't want people to pass them in the passing lanes even if they're going slower than the limit.

You made the comment that it couldn't make their day any worse. I showed you the lie in that statement.

You seriously think a red light can cause a mental breakdown in someone at that point? I highly doubt it. I've never heard of a mid-street shootout that was due to someone losing it because of a red light.

I just showed you the lie in your statement.

... by grossly exaggerating the possible repercussions. Hardly demonstrating a reasonable outcome.

and where was your reference/proof? just because you say something doesn't make it so. at least my exageration is a possible outcome, despite it having a very low probability of actually happening.

Yetti doesnt think Rob gives his own opinions, he just finds flaws in other peoples, not matter what side of the fence he's on. ( at least in this thread it seems )

at the start of this thread, he ( like many of us ) Rob questions why Funerals blow red lights .

Yet now he defends their right to do it.

The Question at hand, in this thread, was to ask if it was illegal for them to pass through a red light.

the answer is a resounding YES.. Its illegal for a funeral to enter a red light intersection.

Arguing against it, is just Silly, because you'd be DEAD wrong ( bad pun )

    The Law is the Law.

and for the Moronic " respect" argument..

traffic lights dont respect anyone, they are ambiguous,

they dont care if you're Black, white, Dead, Alive, Woman, Man, Old, Young, ...etc..

no-one has more importance, everyone waits, everyone is treated equal.

Equality. its what everyone wants, right ?

Then Yettiman hasn't been paying attention, because Rob has stated his opinion, then gone on to say that he would show respect regardless of it. Did Yettiman fail to find Rob's statements among all of those posts, that qualify his position? Rob thinks Yettiman needs glasses.

    Nope, Yetti saw that!

    Yetti has fantastic vision.

but One thing these Yetti eyes would never want to see,

is You stopping on a green light, for every hearse you see, and have some poor guy smack into you,

how crazy the person behind you is... he should have known you were gonna stop on a green light.
that fool should know that green means stop for a hearse.

Interestingly also in the law is the fact that the person that rams into the back of the person at the green light is at fault for not having his/her bloody eyes open for precisely this situation.

Extending the argument..if the deceased was not in the back of the hearse passing through the intersection, but on the road in the intersection itself..Yetti would drive through on the green, over the deceased.........because it's a green!

    No police escort eh?

Sucks to be deceased, but I bet they're in no hurry to get to their destination.

I find the same thing OFTEN. More interested in pointing out how smart he is, and when he's met with opposition based on FACT it becomes circular instead of saying "wow...i had never thought about that...". LOL. but dont point it out....trust me... lol.

Funeral directors need to make sure they book pay duty officers to accompany funeral processions to ensure they dont get cut off by lights. Cars have to stop at lights, unless the intersection is secured by a cop, to make sure that there are no additions made to the funeral.

Pretty simple. Stopping for a funeral procession without a cop certainly increases your chances of becoming a bumper for someones car. If i were at a funeral, and someone informed me that the procession was to be unattended, i would make my own way to the burial site.
