I was looking at maps the other day, I've got some time off too.
A nice route might be the the adirondack and east to nova scotia. Nine days should give you enought time to see lots of sights on the way.

Have the week off, can squeeze 9 days, wondering if anyone could recommend a good trip to take starting in toronto, in any direction. Preferably one with some decent places to stop, since the wifey is coming along, and will want to see some sights etc... Thanks.

If it was me, I would google Toronto Pearson, book a last minute cruise somewhere and enjoy summer weather without #$%%^&& rain everyday.
Your name is very appropriate for what you may be in for this year anyway - (Rainman) East coast is nice (go the U.S. route through Vt.; N.Hamp. & Maine then maybe Cabot Trail in Cape Breton) but their weather has been even worse than ours here so far anyway. Maybe have a look at Pa.? There's a lot of great riding roads, nice scenery & very little traffic down that way from what I've heard. May not be a 9-dayer but you could poke around for a good 4 or 5 days. The good weather has all been out west this year so far and it takes too long to get there, especially 2-up.
Ride down to West VA, take the blue ridge parkway to Smokey mountains. Ride the awesome roads in NC and TN. Head back thru Pennsylvania.
Might be raining there for the next few days though...
The Cabot trail is awesome- just got back- had a couple of days of rain there. When we left it was pissing down and windy- not great riding weather. The roads there are a blast to drive.
Take the 401 to Ogdensburg...cross into the states.
Ride through the Adirondacks in NY.
Here's a good idea. i did this last week...lot of fun.

I continued to the Cabot trail. Got rained on in cape breton.

wife and i are heading to quebec city
we live in mississaga, heading out on saturday
we take he scenic route through ottawa anda re stopping in montreal
Some nice routes mentioned, thanks, still thinking it over, especially since now I have to wait until monday or tuesday to leave. As for vegas, I want to do that ride, but when I have about 2 weeks, so I can really enjoy it and not rush it.
Just came from montreal and quebec city, drove the in-laws over the past weekend, so Im thinking the states for this ride.
If anyone else has some suggestions, keep them coming, could always add to my favourite routes.
Deals Gap to Savannah to Florida Keys then over to New Orleans then up to Memphis and/or Nashville then back home.
The trip through the Adirondacks in semi mountainous...has some decent curves....nothing like the Cabot trail....nothing to make your ears pop. 2 is not Mountainous either.
The Ferry from Port Kent, NY to Burlington, Vermont stops at 4pm....but if you go 30mins North to Plattsburg (Via Route 9N you get a nice view of Lake Champlain) and the ferry from Plattsburg, NY to Grand Isle, Vermont is 24/7....and it's a 15 minute journey.

East Coast, Cape Breton. BUT go through Quebec City, Gaspe, PEI, Cabot Trail, Halifax, Hopewell Rocks, south NB, and cut through US on the way back.
9 days will give you 600km a day to do it.
Ride to QC is boring but once you get there its well worth it.
thanks for all the suggestions, my 9 days got cut down in half for reasons I wont bore you all with, but the trip was great nonetheless. Rode to the adirondack, spent the night in lake placid, continued to boston the next day to see an old friend, ended up spending 2 nights there, then stopped in syracuse on the way home...nothing much in syracuse (atleast nothing I saw), but we needed to stop somewhere halfway. The adirondack had some great scenery, on our way out we stayed inside it as much as possible to see as much of it as we could...too huge to see it all properly in one trip though.
I will try some of the other suggestions on the next few trips, but I might have to go solo on the high Km trips, atleast until the wifey gets a bike of her own. She literally slept the whole way to the adirondacks, waking up in a panic every 10 seconds, I was seriously considering bungeeing her to myself!
I had five days to go to Washington DC. Took 219 from Buffalo through all the PA backroads.
If I had nine, I would add Tennessee and Kentucky to the ride.
