Does anyone have any idea of what an interview with the City of Toronto for an Engineer Intern position is like.

From what I gather there is an assessment, an Interview and a Written Assignment, any ideas what these are like.

    Any suggestions/help would be appriciated.

lol, true. But he's going to an interview, so he has to be white. My gf works for the gov't and she told me they intentionally post jobs out there even tho they already selected somebody

    Re:City Jobs

If the job you applied to was posted to the external market, that usually is because it has not been filled internally - which is where it would get posted first. That said, most city jobs run the route of assessment, interview and in specialized positions - another assessment.

They have specific criteria they are looking for for hiring people. When I used to work in HR, we would run programs that would scan resume's for key words that matched what we were looking for - this was done to weed out the masses applying for each position. I'm sure we lost out on some very good potential employees by doing this, but it is what it is.

And yes, in some places they may intentionally post a job while they already have a candidate in mind, but this is happens in both public and private environments.

Often interviews are conducted by a representative in HR along with the departmental authority to whom you would be working for. My assessment was about 3 hours. My interview was about an hour. Sorry, but I don't have specific info about the interview process geared to engineering interns.

    Good Luck.

ADP Canada (the payroll company) is hiring Time and Labour Management Implementation Specialists. This is an office job where you're working with clients to get them set up on ezLaborManager, an internet-based time management product. http://www.adp.ca/en-ca/careers-ca/a...positions.aspx

    Thanks for the input guys.

The position was actually for a 12 month engineering internship. The interview was one hour long 3/4 of it was a face to face with two interviewers and the remaining 1/4 comprised of technical questions to be answered on a computer (there were lots of questions to answer in 15 mins, they were not multiple choice and very difficult to do them all in that time).

It went well, as I got the internship. So it's goodbuy to one job and onto another full of possibilities.

    Thanks again for the input.

    p.s. I'm not white. LOL.

Bump. I've had one interview in the past three months. Does anyone have any sort of connection with a consulting company or anything related to environmental science / monitoring / GIS?

Cp rail will be hiring in the next month or so for Conductors and loco mechanics, the pay is great, as are the benefits, the lifestyle is tough. Watch their website, I think they want to have people in training for Aug, or so the rumor is.
