adjournment request

just found out my trail date is on Nov 13, 2009

Can I request adjournment on the grounds that it's Friday the 13th! bad things generally happen to me on that day

You could ask for an adjournment, as you can see already that you have to work that day.

If you do it far enough in advance, the court is usually pretty easy going. Heck, I've called the court and got a different date once years ago.

Just be prepared, if you do it in a court room, you may have to give up your 11b right.

Call the court, and see if they can reschedule you to a different date.

gotcha. My trial date was less than 6mos from offence date so no 11b there. I'll wait to see if they respond quickly to my disclosure request (so no chance for 11b either) then it can only help if I ask for adjournment.
