Well, it didn't look like it does now when I bought it. Front wheel was destroyed from hitting a curb and engine was kaput after the rubber camchain tensioner wheels disintegrated. It was a ground up rebuild.

Oh yes, I understood that from your other post. I don't like country music, but I watched that video a couple of times just for the bike

Was used as demo bike 300km on it, had 1 1/2 years warranty, felt great to sit on, quality of construction was there, and cheaper then a older second hand sv650

    -Certified?
    from a shop
    -Condition?

To be hoenst its a great bike for me, dose what I want, fun to ride 1000km day trip and my back side is not crying, loads of low end power, and hey warranty for cheaper then a older bike in same class. Alos fun when people who are true motorcycle enthusests (not o its korean so its crap people) have been very impressed with the bike.

Aren't you the same guy in the 'am i the crazy one' thread complaining of the high prices for used bikes? Sounds like if you still had the nighthawks you'd be selling them at the prices you're now complaining about.
Better to regret something you have done than something you haven't.

Yes that is me. I am just showing how much the used bikes have gone up in price. They don't get better with age. You would never see that with anything else. Well if I was selling it I would sell it for a fair price because when I want to sell something I want it gone now, alot of these $3000 older bikes are still for sale a few months down the road. That being said I would love to have either of those bikes nighthawk or virago back as they were both great in their own way.

    -What did you buy?
    2004 SV650 N (naked)

    -How much did it cost?
    $5000

    -When did you buy it?
    May 2009

    -How many km?
    6300

    -Certified?
    yep.

    -Condition?
Showroom. All stock, never dropped, barely even broken in. Absolutely mint.

-Was it a great deal IYO?
Considering the condition, I think so. But these bikes are expensive in Canada, because the demand is high. In the states the same bike goes for $4000, but to go there and get one would've cost the same $$.

It was a pretty easy choice. I went to look at two bikes, both exactly the same (the other had 5000 kms) and pretty much the same price. I bought from the guy willing to deal with me a bit, and seemed like a really honest and nice guy. It's important to deal with honest sellers, even if it means paying a few $$ more, cuz you're essentially trusting their bike with your life.

It's been two months, and I plan on emailing the seller with some pics of mods I've done

    -What did you buy?
    1981 Yamaha Virago 750

    -How much did it cost?
    $400.00

    -When did you buy it?
    December 2008

    -How many km?
    35,000

    -Certified?
    No

    -Condition?
Used, but very well taken care of. Owner said needed new battery and rectifier and that's it. Since that time, I ran it through a safety check and found that it needs new rear brake shoes and a monoshock replacement.... and that's all. I bought the shoes new and the shock on eBay... the shock cost me $10 + $38 shipping. Compare to $450.00 local price quoted me for the shock...

-Was it a great deal IYO?

    So $400.00 for the bike...
    $130 battery
    $110 rectifier/regulator
    $40 shop manual
    $40 brake shoes
    $55 shock
    --------------
$775 for an original, running Virago..... not bad at all. In fact I'm very proud of the good deal in finding it and the good finds in getting the required parts.

The seller was actually trying to sell a pair of bikes - the other one was a 1982 Virago. He wanted $1000 for the pair but that was more cash than I had saved up.... (I took a second job and was working to save enough cash for an expected spring purchase when I stumbled across this deal)

Once I convinced him to split up the bikes, I actually was initially more interested in the 1982 "complete, needs nothing to safety" however, he had never transferred the ownership on that bike, and had lost his previous ownership and bill of sale, so without a letter from a lawyer there would have been difficulties for me plating it in my name.

I would like to think so. Better than most deals I see for baby ninjas and barely broken in given the kms. Plus, it had purple rims. I just had to have it.
