Quebec bike, met seller in Montreal.
I haven't bought a bike, but I have seen the following being sold :
2007 FZ6 in excellent shape $5400 (most sellers ask about $6500 to $7000 for that year/model). (seller in FZ6 forum described the sale)
2008 Suzuki GSF 1250SE (touring package) for $6500 (off of EBay where you know the final sale price if it is sold).
2003 Suzuki Bandit 600 in good shape for asking price of $2800 (don't know of the actual selling price).
In every case, I believe that the seller was someone with enough money, that they didn't care to squeeze every last dollar out of the bike. They just wanted it sold with as few hassles as possible.
There are deals out there, but you do have to keep looking, and act quickly when you see one.
SeaMe
Can't fault owners for wanting the most for machines they once loved and enjoyed... that being said, sellers need to separate emotion from business, although it can't always be helped.
As a buyer just make your offer based on market value, and include an explanation if needed. Sooner or later most sellers come to their senses and everyone gets a deal they're happy with.

$300 more for a 50th anni + new design, but can't complain since Kelly's Cycle Centre was still $500 cheaper than any other dealership at the time....

- 54,000 kms
- Certified
- Condition: Showroom/Impeccable
- Price: $4000CAD
- Good Deal? I think so
I know the bike has lots of kms, but it was purchased brand new in 2001 by a close friend of mine. Back in 2001, I was just getting started with my first Ninja 250 and told him I was going to buy the Gixxer when he was done with it . . . and I didn't lie ;P
My friend was OCD about maintaining the bike, and never did anything crazy with it. It literally looked the exact same as the day he bought it, except with a Hindle Pipe, Power Commander, and an Undertail Kit I would rather purchase his bike with 54K than a bike with an unknown history and 27K.

I like to think so. Came with new tires and lots of new parts.
The previous owner was streetfightering it, but bought a new gsxr half way through. I had to undo most of the work because I didn't like the way he approached it.

Yes, learned a great deal by rebuilding it despite investing over $1000 and a year of time before it was streetworthy.
