Avoid Hockley Road For At Least the Week - Construction - Update

Just a short notice to avoid Hockley Valley Road for the next little while. I came through tonight on my way home and found that a section about 2 km long between the Third and Fifth Lines has been torn up and is loose gravel.

Not sure how long they intend to leave it in that shape, but for the next week or so you might want to avoid it.

I was just on it today... didn't see any section torn up or construction?, but some ******** covered the road in what looks like calcium chloride. Not just the gravel, but the entire road.

That ***** is extremely slippery, especially when wet.

If all it was is a screwup with calcium chloride, avoid it for at least a month. It will take that or more for it to wash away.

They had covered the road in sand and oil, I guess to renew the surface? I was on it Wednesday night, there were signs all over stating loose sand.
I drove down it yesterday in the cage, the street sweeper was picking up the sand, but it looked oily slick. I'm waiting for the rains to come and wash that s#$% away!

I took a ride down Hockley today and the mess that was there has been cleaned up. I looks like there might have been a fuel spill and they dropped a load of sand all along on the road to soak it up. The surface has not been changed but the sand is pretty much gone. There are stains on both lanes from Airport Road, west to at least the 3rd Line (near the ski hill), but it does not seem to be overly slippery.
