    Suggested routes to Deals Gap

I am planning a trip down to Deals Gap, following the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway. For the first day, from Oakville to Renovo PA, I know the area and have the route planned. The second day I want to ride from Renovo to Front Royal, VA. Any suggestions for this part of the trip would be welcome.

Also I am looking for suggestions for the return trip. I would like to take a different route, about 500km a day for three days. Thank you.

we slabbed it to front royal in one day.

travel on the skyline and BRP is beautiful but takes A LOT of time, because it's so twistie. Spent most of the morning at speed, only to realize we'd covered very little straight line distance overall. We pulled off and slept in Roanoke on the second night. Slabbed it into Deals gap by mid-day of day 3

not to mention the 45mph speed limit, which is strictly enforced.

Oh really! OUPS! Thought that was the autobahn... Bob I guess we should slow down next time...

Just be careful on Skyline drive it's a 35 and they do enforce. Oh and there are undercover cars on the BRP.

    I thought it was a 45....

....anyways, certain people received first hand experience of how strictly it is enforced

(but NOT until several hours into it -- it was pure bliss up until that point -- and then suddenly: "DON'T MOVE!!! DON'T MOVE!!! DON'T MOVE!!! LET ME SEE YOUR HANDS!!!! LET ME SEE YOUR HANDS!!!! )

You do need some skill to get through there in one piece, yes. But I wouldn't say you need to be extraordinary.

Re: Suggested routes to Deals Gap

it all depends on how fast you want to go through it. there are older cruiser riders on it too that just go through it at a relaxed pace.

it is pretty tight though, which makes it a whole lot of fun. just be careful and you'll be fine.

also keep in mind that the whole area is full of fun roads so just staying on the dragon would limit your experience.
