Keyless ignition for a trak bike.

I want to convert a 97 zx7r to a keyless igntion (track bike). Using the stock run/kill switch.
I've got the tumbler out and ready to wire.
I kow which 2 wire are ign. And battery power.
I tried temporialy wireing them to gether to try and start the bike.
    No luck.
I understand there needs to be a resistor in the system somewhere.
The question is where an what amount/size of a resistor do I need?

Why go through all of that?!?!??!

Remove the ignition cylinder completely and put a momentary contact switch in it's place. You hook that up to a relay that powers the starter (but only as long as you hold that button down).

    ..... and voila, done!

Okay, off you go, get 'er done.

There's a ign wire that goes to ignitor. I don't believe the ignitor will fire unless it's seeing the proper signal. I think the tumbler had some kind of resistor in it for this purpose. Kind of a crude anti-theft to keep people from just clipping the wires going into the tumbler and hot wireing.

There is a resistor you need in there. I can't remember the ohms you need, but google it and you will find it.

I found what type of resistor I need.
    Now where to get it.
The source doesn't have the one I need on the web page.
    I need some geek help.
Where can I get my hands on some resistors locally (west end)?

I've had a hell of a time finding actual components in the west end. Usually end up downtown at one ofthe outlets on queen. I have a big old bag of resistors from when I was making aTRE's if you shoot me the info i can check if I've got what you need.

You guys should've stuck around sunday, it cleared up after lunch beautifully!

Sayal Electronics on Matheson has everything you'll ever need. If they don't have it Active Electronics, next door will have it.

I want these parts gone! make me an offer.

please email me directly, I don't check the forums anymore. Thanks!

Last time i went there i had a hard time finding just resistors and transistors and stuff. Lots of cheap'n'nasty car audio, computer stuff, and FTA sat tho.

I work right there so I can run down and check at lunch if I know what im looking for.

really? Active is the small one at the very left of the complex (not really a good shop but will have the odd IC's and transistors). Sayal is that huge warehouse next to the right of it. They have a wall full of resistors in the back right corner and every imaginable IC, relays, and etc.

I think you may be thinking of the shops further right of the complex. and ya, those only sell car audio, and computer stuff.

turns out sayal is expanding into the shop next door, had a much easier time finding things this time around.

For those that may need in the future

6x 100ohm 1/2w resistors just cost $1, they had a box full of them.
