Rider run over by truck?

I just heard on CP24 that the 401 Eastbound is closed due to a rider being hit by a truck, and being airlifted to the hospotal... Anyone know about this?

Unfortunate, regardless of circumstance. Currently the media is making it read like rider lost control. In a flash your life changes.

I have not been on the hwy yet, and I doubt I will be venturing on them anytime soon. Riding is risky enough as it is... hwy has too many cagers not paying attention for me to risk. This case it appears that a breaking error lead to the occurance, but still too many risk factors for me to worry about.
Once again, wishing for a quick recovery for the rider.

Praying for a full and speedy recovery. I was hoping and praying we would have an accident free weekend as I climbed on my bike today. 35 year old man from Brampton has now had both legs crushed under a transport truck and partial amputation of both legs. Please help us make a difference on May 09 at Queens park in the name of this rider and all of you on this forum. Accidents have increased this year and we haven't even reached peak of riding season.

This is terrible news. I hope the rider pulls through! The highways are all grooved up with random patches of asphalt all over the place. It wouldn't take much to lose it out there. Ride safely everyone and pay attention to what your bike tells you!

Hearing things like this make me sad. Especially when ppl try to cut riders off. Cutting off a car is bad...doing the same to a motorcycle should be attempted murder.

The rider was concious when he went to the hospital. His right leg is most likely going to be amputated at the lower part. His left leg is possible lower amputation and he he cut off half his hands. My prayers are with him

This one kind of hit closer to home providing me with doubts. Although not knowing the rider (I think), I'm almost 35, I was going eastbound (but on the 407) around 1:00 PM, and from Brampton as well. Dang! My prayers to him and his family.

I heard this on AM680 and I passed by that area around 3 to 4pm. Traffic was still stuck...

I wish the rider pleaseeee be ok.... hearing these stories makes me want to quit riding.... even though I love it...

Lesson for us all....be prepared for anything, practice emergency stopping so you know how much space you need.

Really bad section of the hwy and always have to stop hard in that areas. Be careful when riding that stretch of the hwy. My thoughts and prayers are with the rider and his family. God Bless.

i'm from niagara and went up to visit my gf today...saw the overheard sign on the 401 saying, "401 eastbound blocked, take 409/427 to bypass." So i did and once I got back to the 401, it was completely empty eastbound but westbound was backed up for kms! Moments later, i saw a heli fly over me towards the direction of Sunnybrook.

I just got home and read about the accident and it made me feel sick but at the same time, thankful I made it back home today.

just saw it on ctv local news a moment ago...it was a sportbike but i'm not sure what kind that went down. hope the rider recovers but it sounds/looks bad
