RoadAwareness Rally - May 9th

Greetings everyone, in response to so many recent incidents on our roads recently, I'm going to hold an awareness rally on May 9th. Lets get as many out for it as possible.

At this point I want to do a slow paced group ride through downtown.

The route will be announced at a later date. However, our starting point will be Queen's Park at 10am.

Please post up your intention to join us and if you are able to assist (group leaders, media contacts, etc) please contact me directly at shaun@roadawareness.ca

At this point I want to do a slow paced group ride through downtown and stop at every media location along the way (CityTV, CBC, CTV, radio stations, etc). We will advise them of what we will be doing but if they choose not to cover it or don't think it will be interesting enough, we can at least force them to take notice by stopping on their door step. Perhaps we will get interviews at each location.

I'm not sure if you guys are aware of the state of the media industry, but trying to get coverage on a Saturday might be difficult. I realize the weekend is easier for those who work Mon-Fri, but doing it during the week will get you far more attention, and have greater chance of getting media attention.

Also, have you checked to see what other events are occurring in the core on May 9th? The last thing you want is a conflict with say a charity run/walk/ride.

Myself, I'll be in California on May 9th enjoying the legal right to practice lane splitting.

Hi Guy's/Ladies

I was expecting a larger turn out for this ride after reading and watching all the accidents in the last two months around the GTA. If we accomplish nothing for our first meet up we can at least say hey we tried and we will get stronger in time.

We all meet up for rides on the weekends, weekdays, meet up at Tim's and many different places. Why not meet up May 9th, meet and greet everyone on this forum, put a name to a face, face to the bike, gain new friends, new riding partners.

In time we will get stronger and we will get attention, we will help slow down the deaths, loss of body parts, and accidents that happen everyday. But I can't do it alone, Shaun De Jager can't do it alone. It takes a little hard work and strength from members on this forum.

So pass this on, call a friend, email friends, let's all meet up on our rides, who knows what can happen in another week. I'm working daily on media attention and gaining some attention.
