Question Newenough.com - anybody order from here before?

Just wondering what you had to pay in terms of shipping, duty, and any other hidden costs?

I ordered my Jacket and boots from newenough. As with anything you order from the states, duties will apply. Shipping was reasonable. Would definately do business with them again. As far as duties goes, I bought a jacket for 130 and paid $20 in duties if I remember correctly.

So when the 130 dollar jacket shows up at your door, do you pay the extra duty etc?
Can you have them ship usps?

I've bought from NewEnough several times.
    No problems.

If your package is intercepted by customs you'll be charged pst/gst plus the $5 charge they nail you with for inspecting your package.

Some times my stuff gets inspected... Sometimes not.

Lately I've been having my stuff delivered to CANAM in Niagara Falls NY.
I take a morning and go pick it up myself.

If you can, have your gear shipped via USPS... UPS and other courier outfits charge brokerage fees to get you package cleared thru customs. UPS's fees I kow from first hand experience are outragious.

the duty you pay is 100% up to how the seller labels the package.

not all packages that come from the US will be hit with a duty fee.
i have had many packages come with no duty and few with duty.

it is all up to the person who is putting into the mail system.

    it is hit or miss.

^ not necessarily. if an item is marked gift and customs opens it and decides it's not a gift but an actual purchase, they'll ding you with customs. you can always try to fight it but usually it's a long *** process and half the time doesn't work. and marking gif usually only works with private sellers than an obvious business name.

i've ordered 3 times from new enough. the 1st time a big order of 2 helmets, 1 jacket, 1 pair of gloves. no duty. the 2nd time got dinged. the 3rd one is coming in a few days.

newenough lets you pick USPS or UPS (NEVER USE a 3rd party like UPS/Fedex/etc. unless you want to pay out the behind in stupid charges + wait by your door all day). USPS int priority usually takes 5-7 business days and is cheapest. only delivery confirmation, no tracking. USPS Express is insured, takes 3-5 business days, and has full tracking.

"Duty" and "tax" are two different things.

Generally there is no "duty" on products manufactured in the USA.

ordered jacket for my motherand pants for me, worked out well. Had to pay when it arrived but the deal on the jacket was stioll worth it. Now if the canadian $ would go back up (already at 81 cents us $) it would be a great palce to shop but the tax I can live with, duty sucks and conversion sucks but if its not in canada (fieldshere mercyry pants) then its a great way to get it

    +1

It does depend on the paperwork as well. If something was made in China, and your customs paperwork states that, your gonna pay. I have purchased from a few online retailers from the states and luckily all of my items were marked as USA (although they were manufactured in other countries - any textiles manuf. outside of the USA heft a large duty).

New Enough are a class operation, all around. Solid people, solid prices, solid customer service.

There shouldn't be any "duty" if the package is labelled "motorcycle parts". I don't think New Enough will lie and mark your package as "gift".

There will, however, be taxes (GST & PST) at the border, and USPS will only charge you $5-$8 as customs brokerage fee.

Just got two new jackets from them today. Ordered last Sunday. Fees/taxes on delivery were $28, $5 of that was a handling fee. Got two technic jackets for $150US, the cheaper of the two was $150CDN on sale at the last bike show. I've also ordered pants and saddlebags from them in the past, never a problem.

There's no duty on motorcycle parts or accessories coming out of the US, it's not really dependent on where, but who is making the sale.

There's a thread buried in the archives here that has a link to the Revenue Canada site, listing what does and doesn't have duty, but I'm not to sure what to search for.

The most common problem with motorcycles is the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.
