    Forks Of Credit Road Conditions

Was just wondering if anyone has been up to Forks since the snow that fell on Monday and Tuesday. Is it save to do a group ride up there or should we wait till a few rainly days. There will be some M1 riders coming along so if the roads aren't M1 friendly I rather wait. I have attached the route that we might be riding.

I haven't been there yet this year but I'd wait if you have M1 riders with your group. The conditions are never really good at anytime.

And does anyone know if the locals are still throughing salt / dirt on the road to discourage riding at high speeds?

I thought this was just an ugly rumor. Given the location of the road on the steep banks of the Niagara escarpment, there will always be dirt and gravel on the road from erosion

I grew up on Forks of the Credit road...

Except for one incident 20+- years ago involving an old lady and a log, I have never seen or heard of residents purposely throwing sand on the road. The white sand you guys are probably refering to, washes out of the hills and down onto the road in certain spots. It's been like that for as long as I can remember...

I live in Belfountian. . .we still have snow on the ground from monday and tuesday.

There is snow on the hill along side of the the Forks road so water will be flowing for a couple weeks on it and this washed rocks off the hill on to the road of all sizes.

River road, Hockley and Forks along with others roads I'm get the same rep for gravel on them by "locals" . . .

Gravel get's tossed on the road by the guys in cars, young and old cheating in on the corner at speed and it has nothing to do with anyone throwing stuff on the road. . . that is very ilegal and should be reported to the po po.

I know CBRJohn and I spoke about this last summer as he sees it in his area as well.

I'm North of Orangeville and am on these roads a lot...There's a lot of the sand and gravel on the roads up here right now,, It was starting to clean up a bit but then they threw a whole lot more down when we got the snow on Monday.

The forks are kinda bad this year.....lots' of bumps, you might lose your jewels if you aren't careful.

The corners are relatively clean, the usual mud/pebbles, but its still wet.

BUT ITS VERY VERY VERY BUMPY!!!!!

As for the NEWBIES --> if they get too sprited, they might not slow down in time, and lose grip, as the corners are bumpy...

+1 keep the newbies away on a group ride, unless your idea of a fun ride is sitting around waiting for the tow truck. A group of us hit that road a few weeks ago, wasn't exactly pleasant and got a little air time over those bumps.

Me and 4 friends road the forks the day before the snowfall (monday) ... I didnt find it any different from last summer ... It didnt seem like it was in any worse shape or whatnot because of the winter. Same thing for hockley valley... hit that up that day and it seemed fine

Frost is coming out of the ground . . it will settle down in a few weeks. . in the mean time it will change regularly.

+1 If you don't watch out you will lose your **** on some of those frost heaves. Way too may bumps on that road right now. Not beginner friendly.

Yeah..seemed that way to me as well. Little rough in one spot, but overall in good shape.
