That type of question can be asked of anyone who mods their bike:

-250 ninja owner who adds a pipe and different sprockets for better acceleration.
-> why didnt you just get a sv650?

-sv650 owner who swaps shocks for better handling or beefs up his brakes.
-> why didnt you just buy a 600ss?

    etc etc.

Obviously more extreme, but same concept. It can also be jetted down to 5 hp if you want...

So if you do any mods on your bike, do you expect ppl to ask you why you didnt pony up for the 09 zx6r instead?

dude. This is buying a brand new R6, then spending thousands throwing power mods at it. Most people want to customize and make it their own bike, etc, and that's cool. By reading this guys post it's clear he wants to go as fast as he possibly can in a straight line. So, that's why I asked, why not just buy an R1?

For the record, I would have bought an R1 too rather than hop up a 600 with power mods (oh wait.. I did).

Im not him, so I can only speculate as to what his motivations are. Maybe insurance for a litre bike is prohibitive. Maybe he wants the handling of the 600 but on occasion wants litre bike acceleration. Maybe he is one of those guys that likes to beat the big boys up with the underdog ride (i.e. swapped engine civic guys that look for unsuspecting muscle cars to race). Who knows?

I dont think its anyone's responsibility to play nanny and tell him what is good for his own well being. Personally, Im intrigued by this topic b/c I have experience with nitrous on cars but have never seen it on a bike.

    Thumbs down Re: Nitrous - 08 R6?

Why don't you just ride your bike off a cliff you will get 100 more hp that way! Sounds like you have a death wish man, you just crashed that thing and you haven't even done 300k- Dibs on spare parts. Why are you in such a rush to become a statistic? If you want to go fast, go to the track learn to ride properly then if its still too slow for you do upgrades.

    Re: Nitrous - 08 R6?

    lol. this thread is jokes!

I love the size and feel of the R6. I had my 929 before. It was big and heavy. I tried the R1, GSXR1000, 1000RR, just didn't like em. The R6 felt more like my pocket bike on steroids, so that's what I was going for. I'm not sure the insurance is ANY cheaper then a 1k bike or 14k, cause i'm with Facility $360/mo.

I'm super happy with the R6 as a size and handling package, and if I can squeeze every last single bit of power out of it I can, then that's what I'll do. I care not that it is dangerous. The bike itself is dangerous. Ride responsible, and it should stop you from dying on your first run. No guarantees with anything in life, this is no different.

If I die at 300km/h from a massive nitrous explosion, it was meant to be.

    Re: Nitrous - 08 R6?

Alright. I've got quite a few PM's about what exactly I plan on putting on my R6. After consultation with a few "experts", here is what was put together:

Dual Bottle Dry Universal Bike System with Twin Foggers: ONLY $299 US!!!
    http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=237

I ordered the bottles in brushed finish. Might have them painted blue to match the bike, not sure yet.

    Then I added some extras:

    Twin V Purge Kit: $99
As shown in the Hyabusa video http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/images/customer%20pictures/twin%20bottle%20busa.wmv

Time Based Progressive Controller: $149 - So cool! It "pauses" the nitrous while you shift gears, then continues where it left off when you're back on the sauce!
    http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=216

Air Fuel Lean Shutdown Switch: $99
    http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=67

    Wideband 02 sensor: $79
    http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=162

(if running only the 30 shot, the Air/Fuel shutdown is probably not necessary, but a wideband O2 sensor and live A/F display for that price? couldn't pass it up for future tuning possibilities).

RPM Window Switch (minimum activation RPM protect plus rev limiter protect)
Has built in electronic Throttle Position Sensor so this unit will activate the juice at WOT: $109
    http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=288

Digital Blue Backlit Nitrous Pressure Gauge with electronic remote sender: $159
    http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=132

    30 Amp Relay: $9
    http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=47

Covered racing switch: $19 – TEXT: PURGE
    http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=69

Covered racing switch: $19 – CUSTOM TEXT: **KEEPING IT SECRET** (this will be the arming switch)

Any more questions just post em in the thread, that way everyone can ridicule (or I mean learn from) the answers too.
