Oh, and the insurance is The Personal .
|
Well it's the time of month for me to recieve the papers. Anyways I am really new to this insurance thing and I have a huge problem.
I just needed to tell someone before my father gets home.
Please do not flame because of what I did, they're mistakes, and realize it is now too late.
Last summer, I was pulled over on the Ford Focus for making a left hand turn where you cannot. (Dufferin St. and Eglington Ave W. [Making a left on Eglington to Dufferin] )
So I had my G1 second driver under my fathers insurance. Here's my tickets.
1. Driving at 4AM unlawful time.
2. Driving with a passenger with no 4 years experience.
3. Driving with a G1 class license.
4. Making an illegal left hand turn.
Making that my license suspended for a month.
So the insurance comes home and I get this letter. My dad will be home in 30 mins from now.
Anyways, this is what it says,
"We regret to inform you that the above noted policy will not be renewed at its expiry for one or a combination of the following reasons that we filed with the provincial regulator:
Convictions in the past 3 years
Chargeable losses in the past 6 years
Cancellations for non-payment of premium in the past 3 years
To ensure that your assets remain protected, we recommend that you secure coverage with another insurance company prior to the expirey date and adivese any lienholder/lessor if applicable."
Would there be a chance that my father can be insured?
Without the cars being inssured, he cannot go to work, and we can probably be broke..
I know.. I f'd up real bad.

You can always get insurance at another company, not?
2009 Hypermotard 1100
you will be able to get insurance, BUT it will cost more now because of the tickets.
Is it your insurance, or both you & your father's insurance that have been cancelled? If all the driving infractions were yours, your dad should still be able to get insurance, no?
Better to regret something you have done than something you haven't.
I am not worried for my insurance, I'm worried for my fathers.
He can still be insured, and his rated my raise or what not, but as long as I'm insured, then this rates and chances of being insured is fine, even though he just got cancelled by this insurance company?
Please excuse me for my lack of knowledge about insurance.
The 4 tickets were mine under my dads insurance. I am sure he had some tickets of his own and some accidents?

I am still confused.

Avi thought I was a little rough on you . . . sorry :POriginally Posted by VifferFun
But as I told him, Depends will not only help both with the beating, but also with the involuntary response that might occur before and or after the beating
I wouldn't worry . . . the majority of your Dad's anger should have already been dispelled when he found out about the tickets in the first place.
Also, I'm sad to say, but your riding seasons are over for the next three years. Even if you had a clean record, it sounds like you are under 25 so you would be paying just slightly more than a fortune.
Good luck.

I'm an Actuarial Analyst for a Major Canadian Insurance Company. I analyse claims patterns to determine overall rate changes, as well as relative premium differences by various risk characteristics (eg. age, experience, claims, convictions, usage, etc.)
Unless it's private, please post insurance-related questions in the forum rather than sending me a PM.

To ease the confusion, highlight the word "cancelled" in the letter for me. Can't find it? Try looking for "not be renewed" then.
They did not say it was cancelled, they actually let the insurance run to the expiry date (see letter for that info as well), and have chosen to not renew it. They no longer wish to have your family as customers. So move on to another company that does want your business. You must disclose your tickets to the new company, or risk them CANCELLING your policy when they discover them (after you saying you had none). That would be a cancelled policy then.
Why don't you call around and try to find a reasonable rate from somewhere else? Then he comes home you hopefully found an ok rate.

think of a lease or paying rent. You sign a contract for a year. If after a year your landlord doesn't want you in the property for another year, that would be "not renewing". If you got evicted during that 1 year lease because of lack of payment, that would be cancelled.
Do you have any good stuff you can leave?
I'd like to be first in line for your stuff if your father kills you!
Wow. The insurance company actually ran a check? Wonder if it was random or whether they were tipped off somehow?
That sucks, guy.

when you are a second driver under a parent policy....
what you do will reflect on their premium.
if you get 4 tickets.....you and your old man are screwed!
they cancelled your policy, but will still keep you father(most likey at a higher rate...because of you)
like others have said....your old man can find another insurance company...and he will be ok....so long as he doesnt insure you as a second driver.
oh and ps...... i want to be 2nd in line when his dad kills him. SHOTGUN after reciprocity!!!!
best of luck.
Damn, this means no riding the motorcycle too?! I'm a second driver under that too..

....just for clarification......you only have a G1? Do you also only have a M1? Unfortunately it seems like your riding season is over.
