Mine's going to Asselstine's tomorrow to get the fix. They're even coming to pick up the bike from me which is nice.

    Re: 2005/6 GSX-R1000 Frame recall

I was told by the shop I took mine to that Suzuki was not overly concerned if it was dropped or not. It is a saftey recall so the frame is as if it was under warranty. Do not know if that is true of not but it is not a concern for me all I care about is it is getting fixed.

I was looking at new bikes when I first heard of this recall but I have not found a bike that catches my attention. Even the new Gixxers do not do it for me as I am not fond of the dual pipes and the electronic gagetry.

I like the Honda CBR 600 but not the 1000, I find the front of it too round for my tastes.

I will stick to my 06 until I get bored or some thing comes out that I find sexy..

I took mine in a horse trailer but the shop did offer a trailer or to pick it up. As for time Mine has been there since the 4th of Feb. Also mine is a replacement which is more work.

I guess your life is now complete eh Johnny? This thread reminds me of that picture with a broken suzuki frame and a "Only the best trained monkeys get to make our frames" to go along with it lol

Now that doesnt look half as bad as I was expecting, but still kinda sketchy with the glue oozing out like that...I still would not be impressed with anything short of a new (redesigned/manufactured) frame.....Not just a glued in fix...Better then nothing though, but why only the 05/06 1000? GSXR frames have been stress cracking at the neck since 2000...

The test is a LDP (Liquid Dye Penetrant)

Am I going to trust some kid with no experience to do a LDP?

I'll have to think on this one.

Why not? The "kid" just has to follow the simple instructions.
You could brings your bike to a dealer with a good reputation instead of a dealer with a bad reputation.

    What's to think about?
