99 gsxr questions

lol...I thought we were talking about the header flanges, that bolt to the motor.

thanks rixxer. you are correct, 2 bolts to the motor, 3 bolt flange to the exhaust.

ok so i would be able to do a full 2001 gsxr system on my 99 gsxr. it seems like the bends are almost the same. do you guys know if it will work or if anyone has done it already?

they should mount up, but the exhaust can flange is a 4 bolt, the one on the srad is a 3 bolt.

But it should mount up to the motor just fine. they'r about the same.

i have done exactly this - and a full system will bolt up.

i'll have to check my pictures as i no longer have the bike but it may have required an exhaust can mount to be extended. i'll look when i get home.

Having checked the pix i can see that you will need to fab a short (2-3") flat bracket to bolt the canister support to the 99 rear peg.

alternativley some aftermarket bolt on cans have a loose support clamp that you would just position where you want it.

if you look carefully at this pic you can see the misalignment (poorly, as its the only picture i have of the right side of the bike for some reason.

would the rear fairing from a 2001 gsxr 600 fit no problem on to my 99 gsxr 600, like from the driver seat back?

no they wont just mount up, they use totally different subframes. The easiest way out is to get a subframe from a '01, but you'd still need to shorter the lower support, tig welder job
