    Your motorcycle adventure

    Hi all,

What is the grandest motorcycle adventure you have ever been on?

I'm planning a trip this summer and have about 3 weeks.

I'm thinking about going out west to British Columbia.

Any one have any good stories or know of interesting places to visit on your bike?

I'd recommend the #7 highway between Mission, BC and Harrison Hot Springs. If you really want a white knuckle ride there's the Sea to Sky Highway. Hwy #1 through the Fraser Canyon is also spectacular (if the sun's out).

I rode out to Reno this year for the Air Races on my 04 DL-650. Took three weeks for the trip and hit Yellowstone for four days on my way out.

My only advice, get a Cramp Buster or some such device. Your wrist will thank you.

BC has some fantastic roads, as does Cape Breton.

If you're going to BC i'd recommend going south from Calgary on 22 to Hwy 3 west thru Fernie, Cranbrook, Creston then 3A up to Nelson. (Nelson has the best coffee shop - Oso Negro - if you're an addict like me). From Nelson hwy 6 over to Vernon is awesome but the Kelowna area is pretty congested trafficwise. Continuing west from Nelson on hwy 3 all the way to Hope is also very nice. Vancouver to Whistler (sea to sky highway) is under construction for the olympics but the road from Whistler thru Lilooet is gorgeous. Lots of places to camp if you're into it (gorgeous settings and cheap too). Basically any direction you head in BC is a good one, at least outside of vancouver....
I'm getting jealous just thinking about it - enjoy!

want adventure, don't bring a map and follow the sun, bring bare minimum/camping gear, and don't plan/prep for it too much, wing it! . i think with any west coast swing, it'll always be an adventure. you're gonna hit twisties and scenery no matter what. do a search and you'll find ALL the east and west coast trips/adventures. (i'm curious if people actually take other peoples routes everytime i see these types of posts...there's just too many ways to do it) and there's the classic go through canada one way, and the US comin back...

Go east, Start off going through the New England States, then through New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, ( Annapolis Vallay, then to Cabot Trail ) Newfoundland, PEI, then back through Quebec ( Gaspe Bay ). I have done it a few times, and would do it again in a moment.....( And I have done the West trip as well as Florida all the way to the Key West )

Did a 3 week trip to the east coast last summer, and there was no shortage of twisties, cabot trail is amazing, as well as the sunrise trail, Halifax is a nice city to stop by for a couple of rest days.

If you're going out west I recommend the crows nest highway (runs through sparwood), as mentioned by C L O N E above. Just watch for large mammals. Through Sask I'd recommend the redcoat trail which will line you up for the crows nest if you go through lethbridge.
It puts you through the sask badlands

"Vancouver to Whistler (sea to sky highway) is under construction for the olympics"

    Good to know.

I'm not dead-set on an all Canadian tour - just planning to move to BC (debating between Nelson and Kelowna) in a few years and would like to get out there before making the big move.

If there are any awesome U.S. road trip stories I'd love to hear those as well.

Thanks for those who have already shared.
