Question Help..took me 10 mins to start.

I have a 2001 zx6r. I had a hard time starting my bike this evening around 730pm. the bike was stored for two days. I know it rain today but that should not have cause me 10 mins to start the bike.

Any suggestion on what is wrong with the bike. I don't really want to keep cranking the ignition because I might ruin my starter.

Can it be the carb. or just no flow on the choke?

    thanks in advance.

how did you go abouts starting it?

did you use choke it, then turn the ignition on to prime it, then start it?

you might want to trace back the choke cable, its usually on the other carb bank....its usually like a little hook/prong sorta thing which pulls a neddle out to enrich the fuel mixture. maybe its unhooked? maybe?

I dont think its too cold, the ambient temp was high today.

Get the simple stuff out of the way.

    1. check choke cable
    2. make sure there is atlest 1/2 tank.

even my old gsxr that needs its carbs cleaned with a weak battery starts up in about 30seconds ( 2nd attempt )

maybe your fuel pump is on its way out, or other problems...but its prob something simple.

Which one did it sound like?

Disregard the bike/ what they say.

Was this a one-time event or are you still having starting issues?

Before you disassemble and clean the carbs you may want to get some of the more simple maintenance duties out of the way... inspect all fuel and air hoses/lines, inspect/clean/replace the air filter, fuel filter and spark plugs. Without more background information, I don't know what else to tell you.
