    removing fuel tank

    Hi,
A question about removing a gas tank in order to access the spark plugs: does the gas need to be drained before undertaking this? (84 honda nighthawk 650)
    Thanks!

Its hard to tell, the tank might pivot back, so you might not have to take the tank off the bike.

But if you have to take off the bike, put the bikes petcock in OFF, or if it has a fuel pump, disconnect the line going to the carbs, and let that little gas drain out.

On a Nighthawk 450, it does not need to be empty. Not completely full helps though as it will not sit level with the fuel petcock hanging down. Anything less than 3/4 full, I never had problems. If it is full, just use a phonebook under the right side to prop it up on the ground.
