For the riding you describe, the trailwings should be more than adequate.

They're an excellent all round tire, the provide good traction on pavement and still offer usable off road traction.

    +1

Trackmaster also has a great DOT tire that is great for the street and slightly more aggressive in the dirt.

Hey Al, no tires will help your riding skills. Shame on you for selling the bandit.

There are some really bad reviews on this tire. Are you running them now?

I don't ride yet. I've just been reading everything I can about DZRs and how they are modded.

Here's a very imformative link, I suggest any new owners to check it out as it's quite an interesting read:

You'd have to define "usable" as Trailwings are usually called Deathwings if you want to use them as an off road tire.

The OP stated what type of riding he was doing and although the "Trailwings" are not great full out MX tires, it was stated that they would be usable for the type of riding he was looking to do...

    Re: DRZ tire dilemma

"off road" is a pretty broad term when it comes to selecting a tire.

I just switched from trailwings to trakmasters on my DRZ.

The trailwings are great on pavement. They work pretty well on anything hard packed. Once you hit the loose stuff ( sand, mud...) they wont grip at all and push all over.

The trakmasters are a lot better in the loose stuff, but the front end still pushes a bit. The DRZ is a heavier bike then say an MX bike, so that is to be expected.

I'm happy with the trakmasters, but dont expect to get anywhere near the mileage on the rear tire as say a trailwing. But at 50$ a tire.. its worth it.

I've been riding around on slicks, through rain, mud, gopher dunes sand, indoor MX, outdoor MX and just about everything else without much trouble.

What do people expect?? its a compromised tire, if you adjust your riding you can do just about anything a full dirt tire is capable of.
