    quick question for M2 exit

    hey all,
going for my M2 exit on tuesday. just a quick question.....

when you come to a stop, you are supposed to keep the shifter foot on the ground, and the rear brake foot on the peg, holding the rear brake correct?

Pretty much, and remember when you turn in a intersection not to just look left and right but to check your blindspot also ( I got dinged for this).

or you can keep both feet on the ground, and hold the front brake to ensure the brake light is on until you are ready to go on a green light. just as long as you don't move your feet and the brake light is always on during the stop.

the checklist only indicates if the brake light is on or off, or if you feet "move"

i actually have a second question: what's the procedure for an "emergency stop"? I dont' have 4 way flashers on my R6 btw. some bikes have it, most don't. but either way... kick stand, turn the bike off, get off the bike? or stay on, no kickstand, and keep it running.

    Emergency stop is
    signal
    pull over
stop where safe (kick into neutral)
kickstand down (bike does not need to be off)
    signals to flashers.
    off bike,
    stand off the road.
    ___
    get back on bike
    look for break in traffic
turn off flashers / on goes turn signal
    join traffic.

Four ways are not required. I just did my M2 exit last Tuesday with a Blue plated from factory Suzuki DRZ400 S that does not have 4 way flashers.

I asked the guy testing me before we left it if he wanted me to turn the signal off before I turned the bike off ( emergency stop )... or just turn the bike off.. He said it didn't matter to him.

gixer01, if m2 expires, you have to start with M1 again. It's bad times, try not to let it happen.

As others have said but you don't have to wait 18-22 months.. you can write your M1, next day test for M2, then next day test for M.. just have to go through it all again

You don't need your own bike, you can rent or borrow a friends as long as it has valid insurance (they will check for this.)

hehe, ya, as stated above, you don't wanna let it expire. mine is up next year, so I figured I'd do it a year earlier in case I fail and can't rebook.

    That is correct.

Where are you taking your test? (Just curious 'cause I used to be an examiner ...... hehe)

    My take on it is:

    Mirror check
    Signal
    Shoulder check
Pull over (use brakes - not just downshifting)
Stop in the safest nearby area
    Foot down, brakes on
    Shift to neutral
    Sidestand down
Four ways on if you have them (ignore this if you don't)
Engine off and/or hands up and off the bike

    Get on the bike
    Engine on
    Four ways off
    Side stand up
    Shift to first
    Turn signal on
    Mirror check
    Shoulder check
    Proceed
    Turn signal off
    Mirror check

You might want to tip your mirrors out a little further than normal to aid them in seeing your mirror checks.

Try to stop a little further ahead of the stop bar.
The perception in the car is distorted and you might look like your on the bar, when you're actually slightly behind it.

if you can't fit an earbud under your helmet, I'd say you need a bigger helmet....

GEAR - some people ride with it, some people don't. It's time to accept this fact and move onto more pressing preaching.

HID's - your crappy install is blinding and annoying everyone else - not to mention putting yourself in some degree of danger.

the helmet is just the right size where there is minimal movement when I move my head holding the helmet. But I find every time I try to put it on with buds in my ear it yanks on the cord and pulls it out. guess if I struggle enough with it will fit.

woo hoo! piece of cake. the test that was supposed to last 45 mins was at most 20. Got dinged for 7 things. All of em for checking blind spot and traffic checks, which I was doing like crazy, so not sure, but oh well.

WOO HOO! no more driving tests!!!!

Masking tape holds it in nice and tight.
It's a little rough when you have to rip it off though,
