    I don't have the #s....but just a hunch
I have no reason to doubt your proposition. Every time that statistics come out on such things, in which there's a perception that one group is more guilty of a certain type of offence than another, it always seems to come out as you suggest. For instance the number of reported incidents of child molestation in the Catholic church are approximately in line with the number reported in the general public, despite the outcry to the contrary.

And the outrage over dirty cops and pedophilic clergy should be more than the average person committing the same crime due to the positions of power they hold.

They both can be charged with more than can the average citizen, as can others like teachers who are placed in a position of trust.

"can" and "are" tend to be fairly far apart, just like "are" charged but "actually" convicted are far apart.

The problem here is cops "might" be getting charged but too many are getting off.

As has already been pointed out, so are regular citizens. The standard of proof in court must be maintained.

Also as has been pointed out already, being cleared in a court of law isn't the end of it. They can (and do) still lose their jobs. You don't hear about that sort of thing because of privacy issues.
