    New Girl - West GTA

    Hi...

Just introducing myself. I will be doing the bike course in a month and will be riding the day after. Still looking for a bike. Any suggestions for a good first bike?

    Thanks

Welcome! If you've never ridden before, I would recommend looking at a Honda CBR 125, Kawasaki ZZR250/250R, or at the most a Kawasaki EX500 or Suzuki GS500. If you really want a bigger bike than that then you can look at the Suzuki SV650 as it is probably the most forgiving of the 600/650 class. I'm sure you will get a lot more suggestions from others. Good luck & have fun at the course.

    Welcome to the site

jcs made some good suggestions, althought i don't believe the 125 is available until july/aug (from what I've heard)

Check out the for sale section, you may find something there.

    Good luck on your course

Dont forget the GSXR 1000, the Suzuki Hayabusa and all the other liter + bikes that some people woould suggest are fine starter bikes.

The same guys will give you stunting lessions, but only if you dont wear gear and follow them through stopped traffic while drinking beer.

Welcome to the jungle. And welcome to riding.

Except maybe getting into a car that's been sitting in the lot for hours.

    bikegirl, welcome!

the ninja 250 is definitely a good bike to start off on but it's almost impossible to find the 08 and ppl are selling previous years at ridiculous prices. you can also try the CBR 125 from Honda. that's if you're going sportsbike.

for cruisers, you've got a lot more choice IMO for a new rider.

    Hey Girl,

Just wanted to say welcome to the board! When selecting a bike I would suggest start with something smaller and work your way up. Check out a few and see which one your most comfortable on. See you around!

start with a used 250. ride it for a season and once comfortable, move up to 600 or even a 750 twin street fighter such as :

Welcome, always a pleasure to have another female rider in the mix, trying to tone down the testosterone in here lol PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE especially in parking lots for the first bit. Gear is just as important as the bike you choose.

Good Luck with the course, ride safe
