^ was this at the Major Mac and Dufferin store? I was in the tools section and all they had were the silicone spray cans (orange). I'll call around to the other stores. Thanks for the tip.

I assume you were in Vaughn?

Give 'em a call before you go, I did & they said there had it in stock.
I know they keep it near the front of the store in the tool section.
I was lucky & when I went to the Maple/Vaughn store there were 13 left after I bought mine.

And Dillagaf: the stuff does keep my chain slick for 500km. And the sweetest thing is, it doesn't fling or attract dirt/grit. Just spray on more multi-lube and if you want, wipe the chain down with a rag to make it that much cleaner. You can get the stuff on your fingers, pants, bike, etc., but since it's not sticky, it can be just wiped off. No mess, no fuss.

I couldn't round up any Dupont - I've gone to Lowe's once or twice a day for the last 2 weeks.
I clean and lube my chain once a week - minimum.
So - I tried the CT Multi Lube today. Goes on very similar to Dupont. There is a very slight difference in cleaning ability between the two. Dupont has the upper hand for cleaning. CT is not far behind - if Dupont is an 8 / 10 then CT is 7 / 10 for cleaning. They also smell similar, not that it's an issue with me, but some who use it, like it.
After cleaning / lubing the chain with CT Multi Lube, it feels identical, as if I had used Dupont.
After a brief 20 minute blast, the chain was slightly warm, no different that the Dupont (to touch, I didnt' use a thermometer), and was still 'slippery' - exactly the same as Dupont. After this blast, is when I would normally wax the chain - today, I didn't.
Conclusion - Don't be afraid of the CT product - it works well, and does NOT fling. I get more fling from my Scottoiler.
If Dupont can't be found for $6 a can - there's plenty of Multi Lube at CT, and you can get 3 cans for the price of two cans of Dupont, at Lowe's.
I'll be putting some mileage on today, and report back ( I wasn't impressed with Dupont's longevity, and have been using Bel-Ray white wax, after cleaning - no Bel-Ray today)
cool. so now it's even cheaper!

Ok - after about 300 + kms: The CT multi - lube is not up to standards of the Dupont, but very similar. There is still a slick residue on the chain, it's still clean, ie, it hasn't collected any, or much dirt. It is cheaper, and I'll be using it as a cleaner for the next little while, but won't count on it for lubricating my chain on a constant basis, or the 'long ride' coming up.......
I've got 6 cans for our trip! 2 days to go.... hehe
I love this stuff, I got bored one day and wanted to see how clean I could make my chain; 1 full can latter it was spotless...

So that's why I can't find it anywhere - everyone is buying them by the dozen . I use two cans per season at the most, what do you guys do with them - use them for cooking as well? Do us all a favor - wash your chains with something else and leave Dupont stuff for lubrication only.

BTW, has anyone tried the Dupont Teflon Silicone spray? It sits at the same rack at Lowes.

I'm going to East Gwillimbury store and if I don't find the multi-purpose I'll take a can of Silicone one. The alternative is Jig-A-Loo teflon that I have a can of from earlier.
It would really help if those that go and find this stuff post here where they got it and how much was left.

They used to make Jig-A-Loo Teflon (it actually says "Teflon" on the can), but that particular variant disappeared from the shelves of CT and the manufacturer's web site about a year or so ago. I'll take a picture when I get a chance. Like you, I'd trust the inventors and owners of Teflon trademark a bit more
