A Newmarket man is dead after his motorcycle crashed into another vehicle in East Gwillimbury last night.

The motorcyclist was northbound on Yonge Street at 10:06 p.m. when, according to police, a Toyota Corolla made a U-turn in front of him and the bike crashed into the side of the car, police said.

The motorcyclist, a 30-year-old Newmarket man, was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

The driver of the Toyota, 60, also of Newmarket, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and police are seeking witnesses. If you have information, call police at 1-888-876-5423, ext. 7704, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave a tip at

A coworker of mine was Kirks neighbor, he told me that it was a 16 year old kid driving the car. Should not have been on the road with graduated licensing. RIP and lets hope there are no more accidents this year.
