We have opened up another motorcycle lapping day which will be held on June 8th, 2008. This day will be run by Uli. The motorcycle events for June 14th and 15th will be run by GWB. We are taking steps to ensure that the number of riders per group is strictly limited to 20 riders.
Where to sign up for Cayuga's notification ?
Can you post email/URL?
Here's the report for today. The day was run by Uli.
I arrived at 7:40AM and no Cayuga staff are anywhere. Gates are open, but no track staff. I set up and get ready for tech.
Uli shows up in his Mercedes and takes the Cayuga truck around the track far far late, easily after 8:30AM.
The tech inspector is some dude from GP bikes, who does a sloppy tech of my bike but does cover the basics. Riders Meeting was very basic, basic flag coverage, and some riders spoke up about some track areas and issues. Nothing else covered.
The Good:
-Someone that knows a little about marshaling was heading up the kids out in the field.
-There were marshals at Turns 1, 4, and just before pit exit.
-Coloured flags were used to identify which group was out.
-Lunch break.
The Bad:
-Poor time management. No one was on time or even close.
-Flag coverage. No red flag meant that a black flag was used to clear the track when a rider fell at the end of the straightaway (he was ok but bike needed tow). Further to this, if a rider went down at any location on the track, all of the marshal stations displayed the appropriate yellow flag. This made it difficult as a rider, as you rode the whole lap under caution.
-Shared Ambulance (EMS = Event Medical Service) which moved from the Road Course to the end of the drag strip once the strip started moving cars down the drag. Unfortunately when the ambulance did this unannounced a rider went down and needed assistance. He ended up OK, but the ambulance did not respond to paging on the radio system apparently. After the drag competition was complete and they were shut down towards the end of the day, the ambulance came back to the pits of the road course.
-The Grass on the course was above knee high in run off areas.
-No additional tires and/or straw bails at the wall.
Other
Very few riders where there today. 13 in Fast, 10 or so in intermediate, and 3 in beginner. Mid morning the 3 groups of 15 minute sessions were brought down to 2 groups with 15 minute sessions alternating. Fast in 1 group, beginner and intermediate in the other. At about 4:00pm the track went open session till I got off the track (last rider) at about 4:45 at which time the ambulance was quit to disembark.
I rank the day a 5/10. Should something horrible have happened on the medical side, there was too much chaos to manage it likely. Panic would have likely set it. The only reason I give it a 5/10 was because of the low rider count, and loads of track time.
is there a track day on the 14/15 june?\
