There should be a 20 or 30 Amp "main fuse" coming off the battery's positive terminal. Follow the cable until it disappears into a red plastic cover. That's a protective cover which, when removed, should reveal the cable attaching to where you should find that fuse. Not the same on every bike but the few i've played with were set up just like this.
Also, despite one's best checking on battery terminals and cables, corrosion on the terminal(s) and/or cable(s) can send you reeling in frustration looking for something that can easily be solved with ..... cleaning. I was going insane when I pulled out my VTR this year and it wouldn't start. I thought "battery, for sure" (because I didn't even disconnect it), but it checked okay and I put it on a charger to be sure. I also checked the cables and they were fine. Then I got smart and checked Voltage on the positive cable once it was attached to the battery - nothing. So I took it apart and I uhhhh, I ummm, I spit on it.
Bike was running just fine 30 seconds later.
(you can use water instead of spit if you have it handy or are at least patient enough to get it - I wasn't. Just be careful! Traditional cleaning with a wire brush didn't work this time around.)
