Petition to Revise Street Racing Legislation

    Alright folks, here it is.

    http://www.petitiononline.com/civil013/petition.html

What we're asking for here is that the law be revised as opposed to scrapped....the part that we're asking for a revision on is the immediate 7-day vehicle seizure and licence suspension.

This way, the law can remain intact so those who feel it's warranted can support it....but, it will no longer be promoting this disturbing trend of new laws circumventing your right to due process and levying big upfront penalties with no recourse for the accused

please sign it, please have your family sign it....and please forward to other friends and family and have them sign it....we need a ton of signatures here

I've left no comment section on the petition....if you want to comment, rant, ***** or just stir up crap, you can go to just about any online forum and scream to your heart's content....so it's not happening in the actual petition

    thanks folks

Are you given the ability to see the email addresses of the people who signed? If so, then I would suggest that you export them all off-line, delete the obvious idiot posts, then email the remainder for confirmation that they signed. Once you get the responses (I'd give it a week or so), then you've got some solid digital signatures.

    From their FAQ
    How are petition signatures validated?

Unlike the various flaky email petitions that periodically wander around the Internet, with PetitionOnline there is exactly one authoritative master copy of your petition. Each signature and email address (always required, but optionally confidential) is logged for possible explicit or statistical validation. Duplicate signatures are automatically rejected, and each person who signs is automatically sent a confirming email message.

Validation is a somewhat separate issue from delivery. Delivery will only include the email addresses of petition signers who have made their address public ally available. (A petition could be set up so that public email addresses are required, but it would be likely to get far fewer signers.)

If deeper validation of a petition is really called for, PetitionOnline.com has the technical ability to perform a statistical validation by contacting a sampling of signers directly via the email addresses we have privately archived. This kind of more serious validation is not included in our free petition hosting offer, but can be arranged on a cost-contract basis (see below).

Ensuring identity without invading privacy is quite a challenge. We don't see that a perfect solution is currently available, given that there is not yet any widespread foolproof system for establishing online identity. An email address is not enough to establish identity by itself, but it is substantially more than just a name, and it provides a link back to a person for (the potential of) confirming identity.

Glad to sign-especially after my ALMOST in Belleville last week. "Prominent member of society" reported me for a wheelie. Officer nabbed me when I came out of Home Depot. I admitted to nothing and was not charged.

Is there more than one petition, Seca750?

Will this one suffice? Or should we sign others too?

    ok thanks 82Seca750

You know I almost think this might be one of the times that being proactive might eventually help get this turned around. At least so that what they are doing is legal. It sure isn't the way it stands now, and is surprising that it has been going on for over 5000 charges.
