    Re: Getting pulled over etiquette?

    I had the most retarted pull over last night.

    I was riding with my buddy, who Is a newb, So I put him infront and said set the pace, Ill follow, So we are going exactly the speed limit (not kidding limit was 60, we were doing 61-62kmh), this truck blows by us, See a cop doing radar infront. I think to myself he must have caught the truck, Nope truck goes right by, He waves us in. We pull on to the side street and I start the process, kickstand down, gloves off and reach for my lid, He says not to, its just a tire check. Looks at my tires, and my buddys and then says go.

    I have had paper checks over and over, but never a tire check, and never from a cop doing radar while someone was doing 15-20+ next to us.

    They've done it on the 400 too, but usually stick to trucks.

    Maybe it was the same cop that checked my tires. Was it in Oshawa?

Boots were tossed on the ground a few feet from him. Last thing that situation needed was some ****** off, half dazed and embarrassed cop coming through and immediately reaching for his side arm. The choice to remove his gear, rendoring him useless until the person he had targetted with his abuses could be taken away from that situation safely, was the lesser of two evils! At the time, knocking him was the only way to reason with a angry young cop bent on abusing someone both physically and with threats of "I could shot you dead right here and be home for breakfast".
    As for posting this on a public forum.... So what! What can you do with what I posted? Nothing!
    render him useless to defuse the situation? or to embarrass him so he has to go back to the station and tell them where he lost his gun? tossing the gun in the bank deposit box was actually a pretty clever move, lol.

    i would be interested in hearing this story though. i guess there are situations when knocking out a cop is the right thing to do, but i would hazzard another guess that these situations are few and far between, and that this probably wasn't one of them. a few polite words and an attitude of respect goes a long way.

    Shame you never bothered to go the station to get this sorted out. You had the opportunity to correct this, but for some reason chose not to.
    Something you all should remember, you can always request a supervisor to the scene if you really think you are being abused. If the officer refuses, take the ticket and proceed directly to the station.

    Bear you have to look at it from my perspective. I'm in my young 20's, I ride a SS, I have two piercings in my eyebrow and tattoos, how receptive do you believe the police are going to be? The truth is, I need to be in that general area quite often and the police officer who pulled me over now knows that. If I went to his supervisor, next thing I know I'm getting a ticket for god knows what. You on the otherhand have experience dealing with law enforcement and are alot older than me so they'll take what you say a little more serious.

    Instead I'm going to take it to court and get the ticket dropped/beaten. There isn't much else I can do about this, if I take the bike to the cop-shop I'm going to get hassled for every minor thing. I'm sorry that I don't trust the police as much as you do, but as many say "they're the biggest gang in Canada, only legal" and it's true.

    You are a taxpayer aren't you? If the cop gets his boobies in a knot over this and starts to hassle you, you simply request a supervisor every time he stops you. By doing nothing, you get nothing.

    I find it odd that you keep going on about charter rights for things, yet choose to hide behind a keyboard when push comes to shove. Then you wonder why things are the way they are. Grow a pair, and do something about it. I was in my 20's (with hair down to my waist) when I was having issues with an officer in 43 division. Complaining to the supervisor got me assurances that anything the officer did would be investigated BEFORE I had to go to court. And it was.

    If you choose to not do anything, then please stop posting about how others should stand up for their rights.

    By the way, what else is wrong with your bike that you are so afraid of them finding?

    Re: Getting pulled over etiquette?

    I think its a telling sign of the state of police/public relations when people fear the police. I don't know what I would do. I'd like to think I'd go talk to the supervisor but on the other hand I have had an incident like that go wrong when I was yonger and had to almost file harassment charges against a certain officer (small town local force before they switched to OPP).

    They came for the communists, and I did not speak up because I wasn't a communist;
    They came for the socialists, and I did not speak up because I was not a socialist;
    They came for the union leaders, and I did not speak up because I wasn't a union leader;
    They came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
    Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak up for me.

    That's still not the whole story. Its one friggen sentence, you're jumping to conclusions.
