    The Ride to Conquer Cancer

The Ride to Conquer Cancer is a 200km bike ride from Toronto to Niagara Falls over two days that will benefit cancer research at The Princess Margaret Hospital- One of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world. The success of this event will only be made possible with the dedication, energy and outstanding support of an all-volunteer Crew. Our amazing Crew Teams will truly be the backbone of this event, and we need your help!
We are currently recruiting for our Motorsaftey Crew to help keep our riders safe along their 200km journey. Whether you are a new rider or have been riding for years this is a great way to do what you love and be a part of something life changing! Please review the event details and consider being a part of this history-making event.

The moto safety team has a page already set up: just follow the link to "REGISTER" and select the option for "joining an existing team". Then look for MOTO SAFETY. There should be no password required, but if you run into snags, feel free to email me at <minidisco@metacrawler.com> - and also send me any questions you might have.

Re: The Ride to Conquer Cancer

The Moto Safety Team provides support, safety, and security for the participants by riding alongside the cyclists and assisting at intersections (not stopping traffic, but rather stopping the participants in order to avoid injuries ), and cheer them on as they pedal along the journey. We are generally equipped with a first aid kit and road flares, and a city-wide CB radio-like system to keep in communication with the road crew and dispatch, as well as with other support vehicles ("sweep") who are there to assist injured participants, or provide them with equipment or drinks.

In short, think of it as a mini tour-de-France except in southern Ontario, much slower, and with fewer bikes...

OK people, the team spots are being filled fast. This past week, 3 people signed on and a few others just sent me PMs with questions. Glad the interest in such a great cause is picking up some speed!

Re: The Ride to Conquer Cancer

We're now at 23 people on the team (but only 21 motorcycles), so we have just a few spots left open. And there's only 2-1/2 weeks left till the event!
