Re: Where should we have the 08 spring bling

Please, for my sanity, only vote in this thread and not post. There is another thread for Spring Bling 08 up where I'm hoping to keep discussion of specific locations and dates, making it easier to take stock of the situation and contact the venues that may be interested in having us.

I think the poll is a good idea for a general location demographic, but please post specific details in the other thread. I would really appreciate it!

I think you have the locations covered well

    Mississauga - Sq 1
    Downtown - Irish Embassy
    Central - Colossus Woodbridge
    Scarborough - STC
    North York - <not sure>

A Saturday or Sunday DAYTIME / AFTERNOON event is also possible, if people prefer.

April is a bit early no? there is lots of rainy days and still not definetly warm weather. temps dont matter to me but i dont think everyone will be there if it's not nice yet.

+1. Mid April is definately early for some people.
To get the most crowd we should do it on a Friday or Saturday.

Like Brian said...I don't think a Fri. or Sat. will work due to that being prime customer times for all commercial facilities. What about Sun. May 18th (Day before Victoria Day)? People wouldn't have to worry about leaving early to go to work the next day. Just a suggestions I thought I would throw out there.

I think I would like to see it on a weekday. Gives us something to look forward to during the work week

Personally, I think April is perfect! This is of course called "spring bling" not the "summer squid show".

Turnouts early in the season will always be large because people are excited to get out on their bikes! It's a hype thing Later in the summer there are lots of groups doing their own thing, and most meets don't end up being all that large (apart from PD13, etc).

Anybody have an interest in Vaughan Mills? I'm not sure about the quality of the eating situation there as I don't remember if they have any patioed restaurants, but here's their directory:

    LOLLLLLL oh man

I think April pending it's dry would be a good time, as mentioned it may yield the best turnout, any of those proposed locations sound like great places pending we are accepted there.

+1 for AMC Mississauga, Lots of parking, couple restaurants, easy to get to, movie theaters so high foot traffic. Near the 403 timmies for timmy junkies and so on and so on and so forth...

+1 from me too. It does have a lot to offer and it's fairly central. I'll be coming from Guelph, and I hope to drag a few others from this area to it as well.

I would also like to see it on a saturday or sunday afternoon/evening. In terms of having a high turn out, we would have more than if it was mid-week.

I already added my thoughts to the other thread, but my vote is for the AMC plaza in Mississauga.

    Re: Spring Bling 08

It seems somebody was kind enough to amalgamate the poll and this this thread to keep it all localized, thus averting anymore "2 thread" confusion.

I have no idea where Romey is, if he was around we wouldn't be doing this

When we figure something out for sure I will update the FIRST POST with all the details so people don't have to scroll through pages of the thread to find it.

From what I have been able to gather so far (and according to the poll) it looks like it will either be downtown if we can get the accomodations sorted out, or at Square 1.

Both Eglinton Town Centre and Scarborough Town Centre would be happy to have us, so I suppose those are the fallback locations.

Once I can sort out more concretely the situation downtown and with the property manager at SQ1 I will firm up the location and date/time.

It's seems funny and odd that I'm hoping for the place closest to me so I don't have to (or "get to") ride far.
F' it I want to change my vote to Hess Village in Hamilton!
