    Is this insurance rate good?

So soon I'll be getting my 2008 Ninja 250R, and this is my stats and quote:

25, male, M1, no courses taken, first bike.

    • $615/year for insurance with $500 deduct comprehensive and 1mil liability.
    • $715/year for insurance with FULL COVERAGE.
Is this a good deal? SHould I get full or not? Thanks.

May I ask who gave you that quote? I'm 25, male, M1, no courses, first bike as well. I own a 93 EX250 and the best quote I got was $827 liability only.

If you are financing the bike, you will be required to get full insurance.

It looks like a good rate. The lowest I got for the same bike was about $850 + tax, and the highest about $920 + tax. And I have an M2, and have completed a riding skills course.

Please let us know where you got your insurance quote.

    Cheers,

Yes they will, I've only ever been insured with statefarm. Different brokers give you different excuses when they don't want your business because of the potentional risk.

Re: Is this insurance rate good?

My friend went through this type of stupidity with statefarm when he was a new biker. He called one and they said he has to bring his car over before they can insure him. He called me and thought he couldn't get insured. I told him to call another agent, so he didn't and got insured that very same day. I've been with my agent for almost ten years now so she broke it down to me. Some of these agents have limits to the amount of people they can insure, so they can't take on new clients, so they give them some bs story as they get close to their annual limit. This way they only take on low risk clients so the probability of them paying out any claims are unlikely.

Re: Is this insurance rate good?

Just got off the phone with State Farm. They told me they wouldnt insure just the bike. I would have to insure my truck/house/renters insurance with them as well. They quoted me around $550 for the year to insure the bike, but the rate for my truck was $235 a month.(I pay $140 through TD)

Kellen, I suggest you google a term called coercive tied selling. No company can force you to buy a product you don't want in order to sell you a product you do want.

It would be like the bank saying you can't open a chequing account unless you have a visa card and mortgage with them as well.

Call another state farm agent, you may get a different answer ( Try Fahey 905-403-1500)

I tried another agent in London who gave me the same quote of $550 but said nothing about having to get other insurance with them as well.

I got $1500 for 03 yamaha r6. I just turned 25 and have nothing other than the bike insured via statefarm. Although they asked me whether i'd like to insure the car as they could give me a better deal however he didn't deny coverage. I don't think your getting raped because higher cc thus higher premium.
