hi im new here and also to the motorcycle world. i am planning on getting my first bike this spring and was originally gonna get a sport bike. a friend at work has a bike mechanic that lives next door to him and supposedly he says that in the near future their will only be ONE insurance company that will insure sport bikes. im assuming that insurance for new sport bike riders will be a little more harsh but what do i know im new to all this. anyone hear of this? how could they actually get away with this? so you could only get insurance for your sport bike through one company i cant see that.

My receptionist's brother-in-law lives next door to a guy who knows someone who works for a dog groomer... and that dog groomer has a client who works for a computer company that services one of the insurance companies in Canada.
Well, that guy said that this isn't happening.
I think your mechanic is in legue with Santa Clause.
I just got off(the phone) with bibo's mom.
She has confirmed the rumor as truth.
To much money to be milked from all of us. Does not make sense.
Good luck with your first bike and bring the lube when you go get insurance
(dont worry it only hurts for the first five or so years LOL).
Bikes R what unite us, what kind should not matter!
lol
well first thing, fidelblanco dont get a sport bike as your first bike, get something slower
and second thing, sport bike riders, pay WAYYYY more than it was meant to
and speaking about all sport bikes going to one company.. is scaring me, cuz we all will endup paying BIGGER bills than we are paying right now
if speed doesnt scare you, the truck around the corner will.

2004 Suzuki GSXR 1000 - Stolen
2000 Suzuki GSXR 750 - Sold

I thought payin $2300 a year for liabilty only was a good deal on a 17 year old 600 cc bike..... (more than I paid for the bike....)
Damn do I feel stupid....
Hopefully it will only be $2250 this year.....
B.S. I tell ya.
Thinkin about it takes all the fun out of it !
State Farm, heard many good things .. .need to wait another year before switching. The fact they charge by the engine displacement instead of the type of bike is nice.
Don't get your hopes up, I am with state farm and have been for 9 years now and they treat me really well. But allot of things are factors. Age, experience, weather or not SF will even take you on....
I personally only pay 57 bucks a month for my 99 ZX6r , I'm 25, married and have 2 kids, and I don't have any claims with them.
I DO have a few minor tickets though.(about 5)
