Read this to help you with how they may assign fault. 20 years ago, I had a similar scenario where other driver backed into me (drove into my driver side fender right in front of the door) but said I rear-ended him. Adjuster assigned 50-50 fault because of conflicting stories - being lazy. I found out about the fault through a new renewal notice with a substantially higher premium instead of directly from the adjuster - the collision was just 1 month before my renewal. Used pictures and very long letter to argue my case and basically ended with telling the adjuster to do their job and figure out whose lying. Even threatened to go their supervisor if this wasn't resolved. Luckily it worked.

So stay on top of the adjuster and good luck.

I've escalated to my adjuster's supervisor b/c she wanted to assign 50-50 fault. If you didn't do anything wrong then start making a big deal out of it.
