    Good ole' Estimation

He has got to be so proud of himself now

    Speeder and a Drug Dealer...

    http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_16835.aspx

Curtis Wint is a friggin' IDIOT though, speeding with drugs in the car???? He deserves the Idiot of the Year award.

PS: Glad the guy got busted for drugs... but I am not to sure about this "Estimation" ********. Sounds a little too close to "He looks like a criminal".... lol.

    Re: Good ole' Estimation

If the guy was pulled over for speeding at over 50km/h, why did they search his car? Don't get me wrong, Mr. Wint is quite the idiot but still.

Sorry about this. Completely off topic but did you guys see this news link?

I think it has something to do with them assuming control of the car or something. They have to inventory the contents.

Its called using the tools as you can

Looks like the cambridge police christmas party this year got a few new 'party favours'. lol The worst part of all this is that they will blow this sole case out of proportion to be a reason why they take more rights away from us. He estimated that he was doing over 50km/h over the limit and for that his car was impounded!? That's fuct up. Cops don't even need a radar anymore?

Glad to have the drugs off the street though.

Fantino said he estimated the car at 170km/h, hmm i didnt know cops got trained on being a human radar gun, i wonder if thats to increase the # of 50km/h speeders and/or increase convictions, since you cant fight that "evidence" in court
the law gives the cop discretion, dont u remember thats the "gensis" behind it
gotta love the new law at work huh

but on a side note, why the @%#! would the guy speed with drugs in the car, just not smart, he desevered to be caught

sorry, but no you wouldnt, especially not if it was 3 guys... you'd either, A) RUN, like most people probably would, or B) fight them, and hope they bluffed you, or end up with a knife wound to the stomach...

I'd take my chance fighting. I couldn't outrun three, with my heart not being the greatest. I'd have a better chance "Muay Thai-ing" the crap out of 'em.

uhhh, yea, thats the big problem with bill203, cops dont need proof anymore to take away your license and impound your car... but how well that will hold up in court is a different story, so you wont get convicted unless they have radar proof.

The car was impounded as evidence in a drug case, I would wager, though yes it could potentially be impounded on the speed estimate WHETHER OR NOT that case has a chance in court. It doesn't. There are only three ways that you can be charged and convicted of speeding in Ontario:

    1) Caught on RADAR/LASER.
    2) Paced over a set distance.
    3) Timed between known, fixed points along the road.

They can't use speed estimation as they can is some US jurisdictions? They have the training down there to be human radars... lol.

That doesn't fly in Ontario. I know, the hard way, that it does in NY.

    Thats good to know.

Too bad this idiot had drugs in his car, it would have been sweet justice to get off from a bogus charge from the man who pushed the law so hard.

PS: Not saying he wasn't speeding, but it all comes down to PROOF.

I wonder how he "estimated" the speed?

I'm no genius but if I had drugs in my car I wouldn't be speeding. Maybe he was late for a delivery.

Does anyone know what prompted the search?

No, but as someone else has pointed out elsewhere they can search the vehicle without warrant, proximate to a crime that has been committed and, certainly, prior to impoundment.

Hmmmm..... Does anyone see a nasty loophole in the "search and seizure" codes here?
