What kind of crazy guy would use PAM, he must of been in the kitchen cooking something at the same time. Crazy nut job that guy is!

I notice that Kimpex also sells a similar product - thumb warmers.

My thumbs always still get very cold even with grip heaters and i was curious if anyone has tried these thumb ones...

What did you use to put the grips back on?

In all cases, we used 1 or 2 wraps of electrical tape under the heating element, nothing over the heating element, cleaned in the inside of the grip thouroughly, used a heat gun to warm up the grip, then a little bit of windex was used to help lubricate the intstall, and within a few minutes, the grip was stuck in there good, no slip at all...

Someone I know... & I won't mention any names, used Pam cooking spray to put the grips back on, but his still slide around.

Interestingly enough, 's grips get the hottest... as if the Pam is acting as a thermal transfer enhancer (like heat sink compound). But I'd much rather have my grips tight and secure. ( 's only get a few degree's hotter, but enough to notice).

Just for the record, DJ installed all of our grips with the exception of Trini who he helped...they work amazingly well...just gotta get a heated vest now and I'm good to go on the trip to the Yukon, what time were we leaving?

Dave why didn't you just use soapy water? Once its dried it is no longer slippery.

Use hair spray to put the grips on. I good spray acts as lube going on, then when it dries it keeps them from going any where. Then if you need to get them off just lift the corner of the grip and get some water under them and they come right off. I used this trick on my dirt and mountain bikes for years. People always used to wonder why I had hair spray at my work bench. LOL

Just did another one tonight....I can slap 'em on in my sleep!

This weekend, I have my best friends 3 yr old daughters Bday on Saturday, then my Brothers 2 yr old son's Bday on Sunday...(weekend full of kids parties, and I don't even have kids...).

Saturday I'll be in Ajax, and Sunday in Mississauga... (but I'll be riding if it's not snowing), if your doing them Saturday evening, then I could gladly lend a hand.

As for the gixxer comments... no worries, keep 'em commin.. I'm a good sport. They are usually pretty funny, cause I know better.. he he he

I'm in no rush. I think I might actually wash my bike this weekend and prep the bike for the grip heaters. Got to find out where I want the wires to go.

try to find a Suitable place to tap into the power....

Some people have tapped into power at the fuel pump, others at the ignition coils, and others at the parking lights/marker lights...

Getting the grips on and off is EASY... 10 minutes, both sides done..using only a small flat head screwdriver, and a little WD-40 or equivalent.

Wedge the screwdriver between the grip and the bar, and then squirt a small amount of WD-40 in there and the grip will come off with ease..

Fully clean the WD-40 off both the grip and the bar..

When installing the grips, I've been using a heat gun and windex. Heating the grips so they are warm and flxible, then a quick squirt of windex into the grips, and then they slide on nice and easy... within 5 minutes, they are locked on there good and proper, with no slip whatsover.

Hairspray works too.... (BUT... if every you are riding in the rain, and if water somehow gets between the grip and the bar, the grips get really slippery again - never happened to me, but I have heard this from a freind who I dirtbike with often... Could be that riding through rivers and stuff didn't help... Using windex leaves no soapy residue...

    What a sweet deal.
I took my receipt back last night and got $8.79 refunded. This was definitly a sweet deal. They work well and with DJ's help it was "professionally installed".

Cool thanks for the tips. I will probably do it this weekend if I have time otherwise next week for sure.
