dont go to a stealership to get your work done...theres plenty of other decent places around...

I think my first mistake was taking it to the kawasaki dealer. Second mistake was! telling them I'm a noob. Anyway I took my fairly newly aquired 93 Ninja 250 for a pre-safety. They looked it over and what it needs it front and rear rotors, calipers are sticky and need to be cleaned up, new rear tire, and the front tire is on backwards(!) so it needs to be turned around. They also installed some new front turn signals. So to get it on the road they say it is going to be around $900-1000. I'm gonna pay them for what theyve done so far and get them to write me up a detailed work order/quote before I decide anything though. If I have to scavenge for used parts all winter I will, I'm in no hurry.

with used parts this should drop your cost big time
i'm not sure how they quoted you 900 if all you need is rotors and cleaning up calipers, rotors are expensive but for a 250 of that year? if you get them used it should be maybe 1-2 hours of work which at about 75/hr is 150...
i think you could be on the road with around 250-350
edit: forgot rear tire...but still no where close 900
A bike is like a girl friend - expensive and high maintanance but it's all worth the ride...
Sauga area, always up for a ride if i'm not busy. Drop me a pm...

I can do it for you and even have a few parts laying about for that bike.
That doesn't sound that far off really. The price of rotors is probably half the cost of the entire quote right there. Look for used ones.
get quotes form different shops also.

Your getting jacked! Unless you crashed and managed to bend all 3 rotors, I highly doubt your 93 needs all 3 new rotors....Taking your bike to a dealer for a safety is not the best idea....They tend to tell you need things that you dont really need, remember they get the parts at dealer cost but charge you retail...So their making money off every part they order for your bike.....
Take it somewhere else!
