Oil pumps? Need some advice.

Probably a noob question.
What type of oil pumps are generally used in motorcycle engines?
Are they similar to the mechanical gear pumps in cars?
The reason I ask is I need to find a small high rpm oil pump for a project.
I know with cars you can get high volume aftermarket pumps for performance applications. But these are a bit large and are not likely to handle the rpm the pump is going to see. Is there anything similar available for a motorcycle application.

If anybody has any pics of a motorcycle oil pump it would be helpful.
And any links to suppliers. Prefer something local. As it's a bit of a rush.

Generally it is a fixed displacement gerotor pump. Pick a bike model at random and look on www.bikebandit.com through the parts catalogs.

Thanks for the offer kneedragger88. But I think I found what I need.
Looks like a 06 R6 pump will work pretty well.
Let's see how long it takes Yamaha to get this in.
