Question about information sharing on policies

Does anyone know what information an insurance broker has access to when renewing/making a new policy? I'm specifically interested in knowing whether an insurance broker can see what other policies a customer currently has. I need to modify my car insurance policy and since the last change I have started riding.

I want to know whether my car insurance broker can find out I have a bike and bike insurance policy. My auto insurance broker is a friend of my parents and she will tell my parents if she finds out I have a bike. While I am paying my own bills and living on my own, I have a great relationship with my parents and don't want to start a fight over the bike since they're very anti-bike. I do plan on breaking the news to them at some point. Just not now.

So does anyone know the answer to my question? TIA.

u can sue her for telling ur parents. insurance is confindential and should be private unless ur under one plan or choose to disclose it. fck that btch threaten her with a lawsuit if she opens her mouth. the BAR comes down hard on sht like this.

Tell her "I know you're friends with my parents. You and I are the only people who know them and know that I have a bike. I'm REALLY against you revealing that information to them."

Unfortunately her loyalty lies with my parents as they've been friends since before I was born.

And I'm not going to sue her either :P Especially since the auto policy is under my parents' name :P

If the motorcycle policy is a separate one, she has no reason to reveal the information. You don't have to sue her at all. What you can do is report her to the insurance company. If you begin the statement that I gave you with "I need to state something for the record, not as a friend, but as a customer...." she'll understand the implications.
